... size of a penny on my forehead! But I wasn't alone! The train was smooth sailing and we arrived by mid-day. We walked the short walk to our hostel, which we at first passed (well, twice haha) and went through the long check-in process. But during check-in, we got to take in the amazing hostel that we would be staying the night in. Sadly, I can't think of the name at the very moment, but once I do I'll fill in the blank for the both of us. It is ...
Cádiz, Andalusia, Spain vneag... and Cameron Diaz in it. I hope they get a part! Lunch was interesting and kind of like eating in a Chinese restaurant as the plates just kept coming! After lunch we said goodbye to the sons and continued walking and finally ended up back at the ship but not before taking a rest in the Plaza DE Espana across from the ship. When we were there the park cat ladies came by and fed the wild cats who were pretty friendly. Great ending to a very nice day!
Cádiz, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands mamafeathers... of the sweetest sherry called "Nectar" for 8 Euro. I really didn’t like their regular sherry though. They were pretty cool though. When celebrities or royalty come visit, they have them sign a barrel of Tio Pepe instead of signing a guestbook! And they have a family of mice that are sherry connoisseurs. One of the distillery ...
Cádiz, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands big_red_truckWe got up really early (for us vacationers). It was about 8:15am. We decided we would drive 2 hours to a city called Jerez de la Frontera to see the famous dancing horses of Jerez. The tour guide said it was worth the drive... We arrived to another city. Not as big as Seville, but a city nonetheless. Shae was super excited to see the dancing horses. The show started at noon and lasted 1.5 hours. Shae lasted about 20 minutes - which was pretty good for her ...
Barbate, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands pille... for days. Today, I learn there is no access to the Cape (rocky terrain right to the shoreline) and no museum which was a pity and a big omission I thought, so on we motored to our destination, Arcos de la Frontera. (“de la Frontera” is a suffix for lots of town in southern Spain, meaning “on the frontier”; these were border towns separating the Spanish “re-conquest” ...
Arcos de la Frontera, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands thedicksons... where we bought a few cans of the Cruzcampo beer and a 1.5 L bottle of Tinto de Verano - a type of cheap red wine with lemonade. We went to see the pier with the Castillo de San Sebastian, the Castillo de Santa Catalina, the cathedral, the old town and the beautiful Parque Genoves with waterfalls and parrots, and it was pretty much everything, so we went to the famous la Caleta beach and enjoyed ourselves there.
To my surprise, the beach was full of people ...
Cádiz, Spain verowWhat a craaaazy evening! I left for Cadiz yesterday afternoon, celebrated all night, and caught the bus back home this morning at 7:00. Cadiz is a city about 3 and a half hours away on the southwestern coast of Spain (on the Atlantic, not the Mediterranean). It seemed like everyone in Spain convened there for Carnaval, it was so crowded. It's a hilarious combination of Mardi Gras and Halloween. In Malaga only the children and performers dress up so I went ...
