... makeover. Apparently the new tenants were so awed by its beauty they decided to leave much of it as it is. Farther inside, though, the arches and ceiling are all painted over with Christian imagery, giving a weird, fusion feel to it. One painting that catches my attention, is a rather arrogant one of a kneeling Muslim sultan handing the key of the city to a proud Spanish king. But when the Roman empire fell in the 5th century (A.D.), the Visigoths tried to take over, but were soon conquered by the Moors, who invaded from North Africa. By the 8th century, ...

After the car situation was resolved, we headed to the Castle. The Castle was one of the primary sites of the Spanish Inquisition. It was there that the Christian nobility dispatched armed guards into the city to interrogate and torture people into confessing to non-Christian behavior or beliefs. Today, it has a tower with a really great view of the city of Cordoba, and an enormous garden full of pools. My parents noticed that ...
