Today was my last full day in Andorra. There wasn't a huge amount to do. It wasn't snowing, but the wind was so fierce that it seemed like a sand storm made out of snow. I had a great time watching a group of cows grazing in snow up to their stomachs. Other than that I had a walk around town and spent about an hour at a ...
Canillo, Andorra sirsmonkey42... that I am.

After I met up with my host and had some lunch, I decided to go for a walk and take some pictures. Andorra is certainly a beautiful place. The valleys are small enough that you can see all the details in the hills, and this makes for great scenery. It also makes for great walking, as you don't have to go too far before you are at the top of a huge hill and have a great view all around you.

The city has a good bit of old ...
Canillo, Andorra sirsmonkey42... br>
Despite the dogs and the cold and wind, we did manage a little hike up past a waterfall up to a beautiful plateau area with mountains all around. Huddled behind a rock to provide some resistance from the wind, we scarfed down a bit of picnic lunch before running back to the truck for warmth. Then it was down into the town of Ax to soak our cold feet into some hot springs.
Marc, Midi-Pyrénées, France 2totango... of the most hair-raising turns. Trying to drive these roads is bad enough. Trying to remember how to drive after not doing it for 3 ½ months adds to the difficulty. Having to reverse shifting a standard to a Right-Hand drive complicates the issue. And of course, it’s a Right-Hand drive vehicle driving on the right hand side of the road, so all perception’s off. No problem!

Thankfully it's exceptionally ...
Forat dels Clots de Massat, Andorra 2totangook, so we got to the mountains wed night....and it has been nothing but chill out since then. we're staying at hannah's dad's flat in this little village called Sahorre. Talk about peaceful.......We've just been reading, hanging out, cooking, etc.....a welcome break from the touristy stuff we had been doing up till now....and yes, i see comments that imply we are only eating and drinking our way through france, but ...
Sahorre, Languedoc-Roussillon, France jamieandjason... of those places actually had what I want, but there’s a good chance. The only thing that can make me feel better now is logic, so I pour it on thick, mostly about how things average out. I just booked a room in LA for three days two weeks from now @$50/day, standard conveniences and all, something almost unheard of these days. And as if things couldn’t get any worse for this silly pathetic little hotel episode, then the ...
Andorra la Vella, Andorra hardiekWHAT THE BROCHURE SAID: This second day of riding is a big day that travels over the most feared cols in the Pyrenees,
but it is also some of the most spectacular riding. Firstly we have a nice gentle warm up to
Laruns, base camp to the stunningly beautiful Col D’Aubisque (1709m). The cafe on the top
provides a perfect ...
Prades, Languedoc-Roussillon, France tomvonkaenel... hopefully next year ...), and I'd only misplace or forget about them if I kept them.

The bus was quite empty, with only maybe 10 people on board - I would soon find out why this was the case ... I arrived in Andorra, and stopped at the TI to check on connections to France - only a very early (around 6 AM) or late afternoon bus was available to the nearest French town. ******! Luckily, I am going to Toulouse tomorrow, and there is actually a bus ...
Andorra la Vella, Andorra pwongEls Caçadors: a very good, family-run hotel in Ribes with both 1-star and 3-star accomodation. Very good food and reasonable prices. There are also other possibilities for accomodation in Ribes, which as far as service is concerned has all you need. I recommend this as a base for your excursions to the peaks around Núria. Much cheaper than living in the hotel at Núria.
Ribes de Freser, Catalonia, Spain and Canary Islands slun... city. Having intended to have purchased a Spanish guide-book by this point but not quite getting round to it ´found myself´ does describe the surreal sort of surprise I felt at having arrived at my destination. ´Breakfast´ was my first thought and I wandered along a street feeling the stickyness of the morning heat and revived myself with a cafe con leche and read afew chapters of the Spanish ´Matilda´. First ...
