... Argentinians certainly know how to build big monuments!) It was built to commemorate the first raising of the Argentinian Flag in 1812 (on a nearby island in the river). The monument covers an area of 10,000 square metres with a 70 metre high tower and a perpetual flame.

Our next stop (after another overnight bus) is Resistencia, from where we will head towards Misiones Province in the North East of Argentina.

... the Bolivian president. After our history fix for the day, we went back to Cordoba to explore the city a bit more. It has some beautiful plazas and cathedrals (surprise surprise), and thankfully it was a lot more lively than when we arrived which was cool. We then went back to the hostel and chilled around there chatting to a few backpackers before catching our overnight bus to Mendoza, Argentina's world renowned wine region. ... One of the students duly loaded up her notebook and the music started playing and then she sang,

... I can buy though :( (I cannot wait for Buenos Aires, I am going shopping crazy – Greg is gonna flip!!! :)).

There is also quite a large tree covered pedestrianised shopping area in Cordoba which we also spent quite a bit of time walking around. Although this had a very 1980’s look about it and just covered in bird ****, so I was very nervous walking along the tree covered paths (but luckily or unlucky as the superstition goes, we had no bird related ...
