Arrived safely! Last Chapman European train experience and unbelievably the first one that we managed to get all our luggage into the luggage racks! It's cut-throat trying to get your bags away!! Bit of elbowing but we got there! In fact, we're all becoming determined tourists - very good at saying no to salesmen (if you'd call them that!) and making sure we all stay together! ... Trevi. On the way we stopped at Il Gelato di San Crispino. The gelati was a bit more expensive than elsewhere but their specialty was meringue gelato and it was delicious. Fontana di Trevi was ridiculously busy with tourists. We didn't stay long. In fact neither of us were really enjoying this tourist gauntlet between the sites or at the sites. It just didn't feel like the Rome we were looking for. We carried on to the Pantheon, which was very impressive, and crowded, ...
... Police to enforce any! They seemed quite resigned to their own redundancy and just stood about chatting and occasionally blowing a whistle.
We meandered back to find the Trevi Fountain not as lit up as we had expected and so moved on to Taverna la Copelle for great pizza and terrible wine. We were very quickly hemmed in by two full tables of French and Italian priests and their wards - we wondered if they were part of the ...
... the hostel - red faces and necks now. It was 27C today but this is a breeze compared to our recent travels.
So, now the blog is up to date! But photos are yet to come as it is so slow on this tablet to upload them. Every time I think about loading them one at a time, it does my head in before I even start! We have more reliable internet here so hopefully there will be more over the next 3 days so watch this space! I will try not to be too distracted by my new book...

I wasn't really looking forward to our treasure hunt because I knew it was going to involve lots of walking and seeing a lot of what I had seen twelve hours ago.
