Played tourist all day at Billie Swamp Safari, also in the Indian Reservation. First, the air boat ride. Thrills but no spills; fortunate with alligators, bison and water buffalo around. Drove over an alligator, but apparently it often happens and he dives out of the way!

Florida is very flat and very green. Highest hill we saw was a rubbish tip, grown over. Lots of swamps, ditches and palm trees. Lunch stop, we saw a Native American Turkey parading his feathers for his mate.

... There was even a big gator chilling on a dock right in the middle of the lake. We wanted to take advantage of the beaches so we drove to Fort Myers Beach. It is a notorious spring break spot but it was pretty quiet when we drove through. The beaches are absolutely beautiful white talcum sand and the water was calm. ... enough for us to start living aboard, so we spent 2 nights at Paul & Linda Ledoux's condo. We are now living aboard and working hard waxing, cleaning, re-doing the teak etc. etc. We'll be here til after Thanksgiving working on a couple of projects that are best done while the boat is out of the water and then we'll head to Sunset Bay marina's mooring field in Stuart.
