After a wonderful meal last night, just around the corner from the hotel we left at about 9.15 this morning in a tuk tuk for Colombo Fort Station. The journey was the usual dice with death for us westerners. Buses, cars, lorries all whizzing past as we clutched our rucksacks with one hand and hung on with the other. ... On the bus and we drive through Galle to the fort. Lunch is average, never eat at the Galle Fort Hotel. The fort is a fantastic mix of history and location. It has had a mixed history of owners from the Portuguese to the Dutch and English before being returned to the locals. Luckily at lot of the wall and buildings remain intact.
