02 March 2008 I landed to Tokyo New Internationl Airport, Narita (Narita kuukoo), a little bit nervous after a overnight Finnair's flight from Helsinki Airport. I planed this trip almost a year and studied all kinds of book about Japan and Tokyo so I was very well acquaint myself with the procedure in the airport: the immigrant office and so on. After having my baggage and custemer I went to the Terminal 2 railaw station to buy a Suica Card. Suica Card is a traveller's card for JR Railways an...
Tokyo, Kanto, Japan sivenka03 March 2008 A new day early in the morning. Perhaps a Little bit too early. It is holiday and I woke up at six o'clock. I had no breakfast in the hotel so I just went to the street and bought a can of coffee from a vending machine ( there is vending machines in every street corner and sometimes even between the corners) and went back to my room. There I sat by the window and watched people going to their work places. I had made plans for this trip since the first day I decided to go to Japa...

... and every little kid there wanted to give the jolly gaijin giant a high five. It really was cute, and i was ****** I couldn't get my camera out in time. So we started walking down the street to find an authentic japanese noodle house. After about 30 minutes of searching, we realized that in Akasuka, almost every restaurant was only in Japanese, with no pictures of the food and no assistance for these two gaijin......... We figured screw it, let's do ...
Tokyo, Kanto, Japan chrisquaredHello everyone! I hope this is reaching you all happy, healthy, and enjoying the autumn season where ever you are. Are you starting to see koyo? In Japan, this is the name of changing leaves and today I really started to notice a difference on the streets of Kawaguchi. Actually to be honest, there aren't many trees here at all. Only in the little neighborhood parks and near malls can you enjoy arching boughs overhead. I have yet to explore Shinjuku Gyoen ...
Tokyo, Kanto, Japan meaghanmcc... for the past 6 years. Knowing how relatively expensive Japan is, Kirilee and I have been absolutely blown away by how exquisite the food is... and I use the word exquisite quite deliberately. As unappealing as this might sound to outsiders, I'm also willing to admit that probably 95% of our meals have come from convenience stores like 7Eleven or Lawsons or Sunkus... that's how good the food is here... I hazard to think how good it might ...
Tokyo, Japan mattersdorff... sitting at the computer, e-mail, Jensen, alerts with United. Off to Asakusa. (ah-socks-ah) Senso-ji temple. Apparently this is where the actors come to pray & get blessings before the season/show. I pray. I'm reminded of the story of Jesus clearing the temple, as it's an INCREDIBLE marketplace. Charms, darumas, food stalls, tourist ****, decorated fans; Some ...
Tokyo, Japan actprof... it served burgers so we knew we couldn't go too far wrong. Restaurants don't often have English menu's here so eating is something of an experience) we decided to call it a day and headed back to the hostel. The next day we went to the tourist office to get some maps and then went to the main station to book our train tickets to Kyoto which were ridiculously expensive as on the tourist office's advice we got the ...

Ebisu section of Tokyo, Japan odevened... the station. Thankfully we had her mobile number, so all was not lost. We had decided to go to Odaiba first, since Marita had also never been there. We caught a ferry to the artificial island, passing the Rainbow Bridge (it changes the colours of its lights throughout the year) and a strange triangular prism shaped garbage incinerator. Owen, a wealth of knowledge about Japan from a gaijin perspective, told me that Odaiba was built up in the 80s as a futuristic residential ...
Tokyo, Japan bonkuraazu... this session. Dan ranks are from 1st to 8th Dan. For some reason I thought the class started at 6:00 am so I was there way to early. Had a lot of time to stretch and loosen up before the class. This was a really nice class and I was so happy that I made the effort to get there. I was quite impressed with Doshu. His techniques in person looked much more stronger and effective then what I have seen previously on videos.
Tokyo, Japan heaven-earth
