On Thursday, we all went to Dachau to visit the Concentration Camp. It was a somber experience. Alex gained a bit of a understanding of the Second World War and some of the horrific events. That night we visited some family friends of Jenny and Volker. Dave and I had met them many years ago in Australia. We had a lovely dinner at a Bavarian Restaurant. There were many laughs and the time was way too short. The next day, I caught up with a great friend from Australia, who is living ...

And just so you don't think it's all sunshine and roses over here, that was after a knock down drag ...

... Munich has to offer in one afternoon. Of course we failed miserably! But had a nice time anyway stumbling onto magnificent buildings, unexpected plazas, busy markets and some kind of protest march (not sure what for, it was all in German). We visited the famous Hofbrauhaus, the state owned giant beer hall. Very impressive. Tonight, we passed up tickets to ...

... family of Bavaria. It is a summer palace that was commissioned to begin construction in 1664, originally one center large house but later through the years other buildings were added as wings to the original construction. This expansion was begun by Maximilian II Emanual. These additions included arcaded galleries and other buildings.

During the reign of Maximilian III Joseph the Rococo embellishments were added. The entire structure draws heavily ...
