Today we had a bus and walking tour of Bucharest. There's not a whole lot to see in this 400 year old city of 1.8 million people in a country of 22 million. It was interesting to see the city but it was far from pretty. It was drab! Bucharest began to grow in the 18th century when it became the capital. After the war, Romania along with the other Easter European countries we are going to ...

... busy and check-in went pretty smooth, Junko needed to pay $30 per bike at different counter, before they were given the boarding passes. We enjoyed the deli picnic we had brought while waiting for our flight. Prices in the airport café are five time higher than in town. Then, surprisingly, we were served a full lunch during the 1 hr flight.

... passing through many seaside resort towns favored by the Eastern Europeans. There we found the oldest mosque in Romania, built in 1575 when the Turks were in charge. Many of the vertical gravemarkers in the 300 year old cemetery bear the traditional turbans at the top.

In fewer than thirty minutes,we piled on the bus and drove for forty-five minutes returning to Constanta, passing the same resorts. The guide thought we ...
