... history to visit Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum in search of the burial site of one of Patty's ancestors. We had a section and lot number. We did not have a map. That proved to be a problem. We drove around and around and around without ever seeing any section markers. We found Orville and Wilbur's graves, but not the one we were looking for. Maybe we should have done a little more research :0). We may try again tomorrow.

... IL was a high point for us in Illinois!
One of the highlights of the week was a two night stop at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton OH. Bobbi had a great time SHOPPING at the Base Exchange and Commissary, which was one of the largest facilities we have seen. We spent a very short 3 hours touring the National Museum of the Air Force (spectacular!) which we had never even heard of before we arrived here! ...
... in downtown Dayton. There, there are exhibits of the Wright Brother's Bicycle Shop, their printing shop and all kinds of information about the concept, design and eventual flight of the the Wright Flyer 1, at Kittyhawk, North Carolina in 1903. Also, a whole section of the museum was dedicated to Paul Laurence Dunbar, a young black man who went to school with Orville and Wilbur and was involved in writing for their newspapers. ...
... we got to listen to the truckers planning and scheming. Made it to Dayton, or at least to Brookville, Ohio, just north and west of Dayton. We had to come to another KOA and this one is north of I70 so we can hear the hiway in the distance but, the tree frogs or cicadas are so loud that they kind of drown out the hiway. So far, we have not heard any trains...other than the one they use in this park to take kids on rides and take their parents ...
... present. It was surprising to see so many British Aircraft, including a rare Bristol Beaufighter. There was also a missile silo-like building housing quite a few rockets. Side exhibits included the Aviation Hall of Fame and a chance to fly a space shuttle simulator (which couldn’t be resisted)!
The afternoon saw us at Carillon Historical Park, touring the many old buildings and exhibits in the 65 acre setting ...
