... reception from the students and staff in Yuxi. Our Chinese hosts have made us feel extremely welcome. The huge interest in our group lasted for the duration of our visit. We attended a couple of English classes, where the Chinese students were very responsive and we were able to join in during group tasks. One class = Three times the size of mine = The Fear. Gifts were very much appreciated by both camps and a shed-load of photos were taken throughout the day, but why you'd want photos ...

... we had been looking for which would take us to Yuxi and set about knocking off more of the 60 miles we had set ourselves for today.

We made good progress, the only problem with being on the highway is the lack of food stop opportunities. Polly strangely was struggling with a little headache and needed lunch. We had to fill the gap with dried mango and lychees until a service station finally came and we grabbed some egg fried rice. The lady also showered ...

... At the train station we got a first hand look at how diverse Yunnan really is. It is the mst diverse of all Cinese provinces and contains more than half of China's ethnic minorities. To the naked eye, when you say 'Chinese' you think you know what is meant. Sitting at the train station we saw at least 10 different kinds of people, all considerably different from the others, with much lighter or darker skins, completely ...
