... vegetarian lunch at the Po Lin Monastery. Not as good as the monastery in Vietnam we had lunch at, but considering the numbers of people they have to prepare food for, it was very good. We had a bit of free time after lunch, so we checked out the monastery, and I walked up the 268 stairs to the Buddha. It seemed wrong not to walk up! I walked back down, and Susan and I walked through the Ngong Ping village (which is not a village at all but ...

... so I walked back across Hong Kong at night, getting lost and taking in the craziness of the place!

The next day I walked all over and ended up in the CBD. I took a tram to the top of Victoria Peak, the highest point in HK, where you can normally get views right across the city. Unfortunately the weather was very smoggy, so I couldn't see as much as you get in the tourist photos, but it was still a good experience.

As we progressed inland the famous skyscrapers appeared and the ...

... if I wanted to buy a bag of delicious chicken feet and the shopkeeper told me that was HK$12 I would know that it would cost me about 1.00 back home HK$24 would be 2 etc. Any further currency issues guys please ask your parents. This is very important so uncle Martin can see how much I am spending.

What does this have to do with sweets I hear you ask? Over the past few days uncle Martin has acquired a pocket full of coins which he hates, so I suggested we use some ...

... South HSR station. Good going!

    Two hours to go...

One hour later I boarded a HSR train in the absolutely MASSIVE Guangzhou South HSR station. I know it was MASSIVE because I had to walk from one end to the other over and over looking for a place to buy a ticket!

Note to self: the rumours are right. Most Chinese will sooner give bad directions than admit they can't help you. It's difficult to know who actually can help, compared to who just wants to help ...
