Speaking no Chinese, together with our friends, Jennie and Don, we found a taxi to take us to the Tsingtao facility.     ... are 125 service staff (waiters, sommeliers, etc). They are all trying to keep the 1,300 passengers happy and they succeed! An average week’s consumption will include over 18,000 eggs, 16,000 lbs of meat, poultry and seafood, 12,500 lbs of vegetables and 2,000+ bottles of wine and champagne. Quite the grocery shopping list! We are doing our best to eat and drink our fair share.

    For lunch our host family served us under a canopy of grape vines. We ate freshly cooked rabbit, chicken or fish; served with typical side dishes of cooked veggies, egg soup, cooked mushrooms and fermented grape juice (sorry – no wine made here).

    ... was picturesque. The smog ever present, visibility is limited to maybe five miles then everything is covered in muck.
