... and we were ready for a good bed and some sleep. Somehow, the 7-9 hour plan expanded and our journey lasted 13 hours. The detour had taken us through interesting scenery and villages.

At any rate, we're resting up in Lanzhou and enjoying the good weather and "fresher" air. We're finding it easier to get good food (our hotel breakfast buffet even includes fantastic handmade noodles), although we still get lots of surprises when the meals arrive.
