... tried to get him to accept some money but he assured me it is the Filipino way - if they invite you, they pay! He often goes to Canada for his holidays and dreams of one day owning a farm over there so I got the impression he was from a wealthy family. But then again, the bottled beer in the Philippines must be one of the cheapest places in the World at just 40p for a bottle of San Miguel and it's definitely a hedonistic society when cigarettes are cheaper than water!
