On the 30th April we flew to Penang, which is a 20 mile long Island just off Peninsular Malaysia. Penang is infamous for its food, culture and diversity. The flight was a bumpy one but it took less than an hour so after reading the local paper we were there. Most articles were in relation to the cultivating of crops, specifically tomatoes in the case of the Cameron Highlands, and the supply outweighing the demand. ... and only pay around 1-2 GBP for a dish. We were all soon full, so decided to head back and go to the bar that was owned by our hostel for a few drinks. The barman told us there was a cheap backpackers menu, although he got really confused when we all tried to order and pay for our drinks. We couldn't work out why until a woman at the bar next to us told us that only guys can buy the drinks off the cheap menu... girls get their drinks for free! It only lasted for another 20 minutes ...
