We set our heading for Ancient Thira. Climbing back up the winding road we parked at top near the entrance. I opened the car door only to have it wrenched from my grasp. The wind at the top felt strong enough to blow us off the side of the mountain. We found the ticket office closed but the gates open so in we went. There was a fellow sitting just inside and when I asked him whether we need to buy a ticket he simply replied 'tickets tomorrow’. Good ...

... because we walked slowly, took breaks and lots of photos. At times the route is on a cobbled path and at times it’s just a goat track. It climbs up and down and skirts the cliff edge at all times. It really is something to experience. Along the route are dotted a series of picture-perfect chapels. I was disappointed to find them locked though.

Although the walk is only 12 km, its climbs and descents make it very challenging, at least for us and we were completely buggered ...

... and also strange that they needed to sleep first thing in the morning (presumably having slept all night).

We had a smooth(ish) trip, playing cards and practice with jacks to while away the hours. Highlights including visiting Paros, Naxos and Ios along the way, watching the loading and unloading of the ferry as we went. We arrived at the port of Santorini pretty much on time. ... and climbing and climbing (everything somehow was uphill, even the way back!), combined with a warm and humid (but lovely) day, had us all worn out. I think everyone is planning an early night, though none of us is what you'd call a party animal. I got to know more of the Cruise Critic bunch, and enjoyed talking with them. Last night Gaga left me a stingray towel animal; tonight it's a lobster. I forgot to tell him this little nicety isn't necessary. He ...

... the orange-red you see in Australia, more like a deep rust-coloured, almost brown red, alongside aqua-blue water against the backdrop of fantastic red cliffs. Tempting as the water looked, we set off again in search of White Beach (so named...well, you know the rest), but after various wrong turns and dead ends, we gave up, deciding instead to head towards the southernmost tip of Santorini. ... Ferry from Athens, the Ferry was good and took 4 hours. The owner of the place we are staying at picked us up from the Port which was free and very handy. We are staying in a place which has about 30 or more rooms each with own ensuite. This place also has a pool which we have loved. The beach is only 50m down the road although we haven't spend much time on the beach as the sand is Black and too hot ...

... it. Heheheh...











So many mules, of course there will be so many sh*t too!!! We have to make sure we don't step on any of them!













Finally we are there. Eh? It is the same place where we took our boat ride yesterday!
