Yesterday we did a final tour of the Dales, which is when we saw the Lonely House. Quite a lot of sunny spells with just a few sprinkles of rain. Today has been sunny all day and the weather man says it should be like this for the rest of the week. It is cold, but you can wrap up to keep warm, rain is just depressing.

Ready for Departure
As dusk descends, the promised monsoon rains have not quite materialised but it is cold and very windy. It's good to know we will in hot and sunny climes quite soon.
Luggage is nearly packed. Judith has been scouring the shops for suitable light clothing and we have vast quantities of medical items including insect repellents and malaria tablets.
No room for the cricket bat I'm afraid.

... verge of closing up for good when by sheer chance Wallace, of Wallace and Grommet fame, said the immortal words 'not even a bit of Wensleydale" when the love of his life in the Close Shave episode said she didn't like cheese. W and G fans all over the UK then decided to try Wenslydale and the brand was saved. Good old Wallace, what a star. I was expecting a monument erected in his honour outside the creamery, but alas ...

By the time we had finished walking around Ripon it had clouded over and was getting dark so Fountain Abbey will have to wait for another day.
After such a lovely day last night was rainy and windy and today has been cold and miserable. Did a bit of maintenance and housework and then went shopping. Off to Whitby in the morning for our 4 day holiday by the sea.
