During my time there I learned, to my surprise, that it is easy enough to walk Toronto without resorting to their public transport system ("mediocre at best" was how a hostel staff member described it). Bidding farewell to my Mum (without any tears - result!) we began our MAMMOTH journey to Caracas from Heathrow. After a wee sleep on the river bank, I went to meet my hosts downtown to see a hilarious French language film at the Toronto International Film Festival called Quai D'Orsay (sort of like Yes Minister).
