Very clean and new hotel located on the edge of town. Two bedrooms provided plenty of space.

We departed Ohio today and headed for the 10th state on our summer vacation road trip: The Bluegrass state of Kentucky.

Before leaving Cincinnati we had breakfast at an interesting restaurant called Sugar n' Spce which had a kid-fun theme as you can see in my pictures. Along with cartoon characters painted on the wall were rows of small …

... ME go!" As a team, we can all attest to blessing that have already been bestowed on us by the generous gifts of donations to send us to Nicaragua. I personally have been so overwhelmed by God's provision that I have been tearfully knocked to my knees when opening donations to send my son and I on this trip. There were a variety of items included in the crates from school supplies, clothing and medical scrubs to Bibles, soccer balls, teddy bears, pillow case dresses, fudge, home sown shorts and beanie babies.

The most amazing part of the packing was that each item had a story. The pillow cases dresses are a ministry of a ...

We arrived at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky last Sunday and camped at the Kentucky Horse Park Campground. Was a very nice campground with many amenities and we had a large shade tree on our site. That afternoon Elena and I visited the Kentucky Race Horse Retirement Center. The tour we were able to take was up close and personal with many of the horses- of whom many were former Derby winners. Our guide shared so many interesting facts and info concerning the history ...

    Our biggest mistake

Well, somehow in all our careful planning, we managed to schedule our stay in Louisville on a NON-RACING DAY at Churchill Downs.  It seemed like the biggest mistake of our entire trip!! The entire purpose of adding Louisville to our itinerary was to see the horse races. There were some tears of disappointment once we realized what we'd done, but since we couldn't do anything about it now, we just had to make the best of things, and ...
