I am excited and a little anxious. This is the state I'm in preparing to walk into the new. The unknown is around the corner. Expectation. What to bring. What will I need.

Then headed to our campsite so we could put our tent up in the diminishing daylight. The next day we took off for Richmond, VA but ended up staying a little before in Petersburg due to a late start on our part. We were at such a nice camp spot in Asheville it was very hard to leave, it ended up working ...

Start up the dueling banjos, today I went from Tennessee to North Carolina via the Appalachian Mountains. OK so we didn't really have any dueling banjos, but we did listen to Dolly singing about the Great Smoky Mountains along the way, so that must count for something :) Despite 5 feet of snow falling on the mountains a couple of days ago our coach driver still tackled the winding road to take us up and over the Appalachian Mountains through ...

    Tolles Hotel

    from kha

Tolles Hotel. Es stimmt, dass es eher teuer ist, aber es lohnt sich aufgrund der Qualität der Zimmer, der schönen Küche und dem Wohnbereich - Sauberkeit und Service. Wir werden definitiv wiederkommen.

Great place to stay in Asheville

    from ChasTraveler

We stayed at the Homewood Suites for 2 nights in July after orginally booked at another hotel in the area. When we arrived at the hotel we had booked, we were so disappointed I checked the Trip Advisor website and based on the reviews I called the Homewood Suites immediately. Upon arrival the only room they had ready faced the A/C unit, but the staff was able to place us in a room with a mountain view within an hour. The staff was also very helpful in recommending a golf course and a restaurant for dinner. The hotel is very new and thus the room was clean, and the kitchen area was a bonus. The buffet breakfast had a large selection and the waitstaff was extremely nice. I would definately recommend this hotel while staying in Asheville. It does not have that older, run down feel that so many of the accomodations in the area do.

    Great value

    from Crimmy

Do you want to visit the Bitlmore, but save money at the same time? This is a great place to stay for th budget minded traveler. The rooms are big and have a kitchen. There are dvd players and wireless internet in each room. The continental breakfast in the morning is good. This is a great place to stay whether you are a married couple with kids or singles traveling with friends. It's a great value for your money. The hotel is relatively new... so everything is up to date and nice. I recommend it. It's a nice hotel. You won't be disappointed.

Wonderful, but a bit pricey, Hotel

    from anonymous

My family and I stayed at the Homewood Suites at the end of May. It is a wonderful hotel. We made reservations at the last minute, after not being pleased with another hotel. It is clean as can be, and furnished very nicely. I love the lay out of the rooms. The seperate sitting area with a couch and chair and t.v. is wonderful. That way our sons could stay up and watch t.v., and we could close the doors between the bedroom and sitting area and be able to sleep. I also like the sink area being out of the shower and toilet area. This makes it easier for several people to get ready at once. The kitchen area has a refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, stovetop, and sink. Also, a small table and chairs. It is all very nice. I appreciated the extras like, microwave popcorn, Bigelow tea, and good coffee. As I was ill one evening and stayed in while my family went out, it was nice to have a cup of hot tea and rest in a clean, pleasant room. I love the two pillows per person on the beds, and the cozy extra blankets. The only downside to this hotel was the cost. I did feel it was a bit too expensive. Maybe I could have gotten a better rate in advance. I would definitley recommend Homewood Suites!

    VERY NICDE

    from Pattyjo98

We spent one night during an extended road trip. We have stayed at many Homewood Suites and this one did not disappoint. We had a wonderful view from the top floor of the mountains. The light dinner served in the lobby wasn't anything special but we put together a meal from the salad bar and enjoyed a glass of complimentary wine which was pretty good! We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Staff was very pleasant and our room was spotless.

    Home Away From Home

    from santurce

We stayed at the Homewood Suites Hotel on Tunnel Road and it was the best decision we ever made. (Three years ago it wasn't there so we stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott on Tunnel Road which pales in comparison). They offer their complimentary breakfast and during the week complimentary Manager's light dinner in the afternoon. There is a fabulous restaurant within a few steps from the hotel called "Cornerstone" with friendly waiters and great breakfasts; we never had time to try them for lunch or dinner since we were always in the mountains some where.

The Asheville Mall has been updated since the last time we were there so it's a nice quick way to spend some time walking around, having a smoothie at Planet Smoothie, or going to the nearby movie theatre. Anyway, I have never been to a hotel where the staff is constantly looking around for things to improve or take care of, i.e., when was the last time you saw someone dusting the handrails in the hallways or ensuring the luggage fold up racks were in good condition by replacing them! Lobby was immaculate, the indoor pool perfect for relaxing or swimming a bit (though no laps) due to its size, but who cares it's still a great pool. Complimentary internet access (free) in the lobby if you need to do a quick search or check your email. The people who took care of the room always refreshed the coffee packets and made sure I always had decaf. Fresh towels taken care of no matter how many we used. A/C worked perfectly, nice and cool. And for those on business, there is an Office Depot across the street with UPS service. For other restaurant alternatives, within 3-5 minutes you have an Olive Garden, Carrabbas, Red Lobster, Dairy Queen, Joe's Crab Shack, China Palace, Longhorn and I'm sure I'm missing another restaurant or two. Free parking easily accessible. The Assistant Manager could not have been more perfect and helpful (I'm writing a letter to Hilton about him). Oh, they have a little shop inside where you can buy sodas, cookies, chips and the occasional item you might have forgotten. If I come back to Asheville it's a no brainer - it's Homewood Suites for me and the family!

    Great Value-Very Nice

    from vmoon8965

We stayed at this Homewood Suites shortly after they opened. The property is beautiful and the staff was very attentive. The price includes breakfast each morning and a "light" reception Mon-Thurs. evening. The "light" dinner was enough for our family requiring that we only eat lunch out. The kids loved the pool and the exercise room was adequate. I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Asheville. The overall value is hard to beat

    Super nice

    from anonymous

This is a beautiful new property which just opened 3 wks ago (end of Oct '05). The desk clerk told me they were already booked up every w/e so if you're interested in staying here, even in the off season, reserve far in advance.

Public areas: beautiful, light, airy, spacious with a fireplace in the center. One drawback: the sole computer sitting on a desk in the open area/dining area/lobby. I prefer the privacy of Hampton Inn's "business center" with two not one computers in a separate room/alcove. Quite annoying was the fact that the printer was out of ink and the clerk said they had more ink "on order." What? more ink on order? Why not send an employee out to Office Max to get some NOW?!! Note to myself: time to buy a laptop!

The desk clerks and employees at the buffet were super nice and tried to be helpful but were not 5 star luxury staff.

Breakfast was quite good one morning- egg burritos. The dining area is very attractive and pleasant. The middle age to elderly tourist geezers seem to really enjoy the free evening light buffet meals which include free wine or beer. Food snobs that we are, we went out to eat. Tourists rather than business people seem to predominate.

The indoor pool was very small- just OK. Would be way too small if families with young kids were using.

Rooms: very nice and plush: light, airy, upscale furnishings, bedding, draperies etc. Big windows in the bedroom and the living room. Kitchen seemed to be well furnished. You really could cook if you wanted to.

Bed was extremely comfortable with 50/50 poly cotton sheets. A down duvet cover was nice but I needed icy temps to use. The wall thermostat wouldn't budge past 65 degrees so I had to turn the ceiling fan onto high and use the super soft fleece throws as blankets.

I could easily spend a wk at this property.

Views: also very nice at the back, overlooking the parking lot but also wooded hills and hwy 240 (belt way encircling the city) in the distance.

Sound proofing: very quiet but I initially longed for a motel white noise heating/cooling unit instead of the upscale thermostat which didn't allow me to make the room cold enough. I felt a little vibration and noise when some big trucks went by but this was not a major issue- did not notice vehicular noise after a few mins.

Location: on Tunnel Rd which is full of hideous billboards and neon signs but is a good central location to places in Asheville.

I would definitely stay here again. "Winter mid wk rate" was $109/night.
