Since Geoffrey woke up early - Anne decided to leave Christopher and I sleeping and went off to the donut place on the French Quarter (Royal street) which was recommended by the Food network. When we woke up - Anne had a coffee for me and a sample of the donut. FYI, Anne was rather disappointed as the Donuts were inferior to ones we had (ie bear …

Not much to report today. We drove from Austin to Beaumont, Texas in just under four hours with only a ten-minute stop for tea and restrooms. Not that we're in a hurry, but Lulu planned it that way so we could watch the Netherlands play Argentina in the three 'o clock game (we're in Central time now) in our hotel room. After the disappointing game, we ...

... to Galveston which looks a real fun place but as it was spring break the place was heaving, teenagers on the beach, outside bars, everywhere - no chance of a place here then. We'd seen on a travel guide that there was a free ferry to Port Bolivar so thought that might be fun, we didn't have to queue for long (there are 5 ferries) for the 20 minute ride, luckily the sea wasn't rough. Very different when you get off the ferry there are just some ...

... Houston about 4:15 and going in was OK, but then we had to drive through and out. That put a crimp in our time, but not too badly. There was only one time when we actually had to stop. By the time we left Houston in the rear view, it was close to 6pm and getting dark, but we kept pushing on.

We arrived at Gulf Coast RV Resort in Beaumont about 7pm and had to hook up in the dark, but we did and got everything inside settled. Now it's time for a good night sleep.
