      We continued around the lake and got to a small town call Kernville. It was a cute touristy town on the Kern River that usually has raft trips (currently river too low) and fly fishing. We stopped and had a snack by the river and then journeyed back towards town.

      Went to a few antique malls and came home it was too hot to do much else.

      The distance from Las Vegas to the California border was only about 50 miles. On the way, we could see a large mountain range ahead of us, at first difficult to see due to the distance, and hidden by fog, smog or dust. The further we drove, the closer we were to the mountains (duh).

      ... longer as I drive and pull my RV. I can get away with taking 3 days to get on-site as the company knows that I’ll start working while on the road and stay as long as possible at the end of the storm.


      As mentioned this is a major change of plans as we had planned a little retirement getaway in about 10 days. Unfortunately, the RV is not ready to go; we had some small items break that are now in the middle of repairs plus it needs 2 new tires.
