... for poor visibility we were ducking in and out of the channel to avoid Navy traffic.
During the trip down anything that wasn't fastened down below ended up on the floor in the salon. Left Annapolis at 2 Monday and arrived at Top Rack Marina at about 2 this afternoon. Rewarded ourselves with a great dinner out at the Amber Lantern Restaurant. Early to bed. Up at 5:30 tomorrow to get underway at first light.
... that fresh salt air. There's miles of beach & you could see the 23 Mile long Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. An interesting sight as the bridge stops at a man made island in the middle of the bay where it becomes a tunnel for a while, then the bidge starts again & continues to the other side!
Now its getting dark at 5pm, BBQing has to be done by flashlight!!
We found some interesting shells ...
"Can I order the ribs, and can I have chips on the side? And because I'm British, when I say chips I mean fries." Today was a wonderful relaxing day on the beach which capped off the seaside part of the holiday. We were up in good time and went for a walk around the shops that backed on to the beach. It's amazing to see the variety of beachwear and accessories that they sell. Fitting in with the other shoppers we filled up our cart ...
... out swimming. We opted for Mexican for dinner at a local dive with fabulous fish tacos and spicy homemade sauces. We were so full after dinner we were glad to take a walk on the beach to get back to our hotel. The beach was so much more pleasant most people had left. As we made our way back to the boardwalk and our hotel we were greatest with a neat treat that va beach provides for it's guests ...
... totally skunked. But on day 3 after the wind returned we were making good time with full mainsail and genoa in SW winds of 12-16, producing boat speed of 6 to 9 kts. Not long after dawn we hooked some sort of billfish – identified by seeing the head and bill break water – but we never positively identified it as it soon escaped via a broken hook.
