      When I booked my Christmas Eve flight, I patted myself on the back for being "such an adventurer". But then the reality of being away from my family and all of the traditions that seem so integral to Christmas hit me hard.       ... beautiful & you forget you are in the middle of a big city! I found a little Mexican place for some takeout lunch & he said he would give me just a small bag of chips to take along too.....the park is quite cool, not as nice as Atlanta but does have beach volleyball in the middle. Just caught the bus back from downtown & who do I bump into but the 2 Scottish guys from New Orleans & Houston - turns out they are in my room too haha!! ...

      ... has and it feels pretty unsettling. So much change, and I didn't even get to say goodbye to many friends because of the craziness of the mono situation. In addition, I leave tomorrow for two months of European adventures. I'm super excited, but also anxious. It's my first time flying internationally alone, and my first time having this much independence and responsibility. I'm nervous, but can't wait. Hope everything goes well! No more health surprises for this gap year ...
