We Heart Kayaking

... buying a small RV one day, we passed an RV called a “Minnie Winnie”! Get it?? A miniature Winnebago, but spelled Minnie just like our car! It’s destiny. Christen wants one.
- Arrived in Seattle to multiple road closures that proved to be confusing and frustrating.

Things we did in Seattle:
- Paid an arm and a leg for parking after maneuvering through throngs of tourists on Pike St.

Heading home

... we're heading to. We're going to a much less known suspension bridge at the Lynn Canyon Ecology Center. We get to experience the same fun, but without the crowds and without the entrance fee :). Sounds like pretty good deal doesn't it? The suspension bridge is nestled in an ecology center, on what seems to be in the middle of a forest, with towering pine trees, pure cold air, and the rush ...

... cellar under the water which is supposed to resemble a fish tank. After the tour it was about 5pm and getting dark and I was pretty hungry, so I found a Japanese-Polynesian restaurant where I had chicken katsu and rice, then went to a local cinema and watched Cadilac Records, which was really good (go see it!) I was sooo tired by the time I returned! This morning I walked all the way across town to the International District, which is mainly Chinese as well as many other ...

... fish will always go back to where they were born to breed themselves. Matthew & Linda had 17 for tea tonight. They cooked Salmon on the BBQ and had corn on the cob. It was all really nice. We bought the kids home and tried to put them to bed early. Yes they went to bed but were up again a few hours later wide awake. I think I got Ruby to be at 1:30am this time. At least it is getting shorter and hopefully in a few days they will be back to normal.

Day 24 - Friendship in Seattle

... to ride the tracks that a semi in front of me was making to cover part of the road that was closest to the actual asphalt. For about 30 minutes straight I did this with a minivan trailing me. Changing lanes was out of the question because you'd hit a mound of snow/ice/slush that would rob you of the traction that you'd tried so hard to establish. The problem was that the roads had been previously worked on and they had closed lanes in several location on this 45 minute drive from hell ...

Burning down the house

... on my ipod, and she added some of her own Q flava with her playlists. I am all set with music. Thanks Q! The movers were here today, amidst a hail storm, rain storm, sunshine and then back to rain...now I'm back to packing, picking up prescriptions, absorbing (sorta) last minute travel advice, and admitting all those photos I'd planned to print for my friends is not going happen along with a few other things on my larger to do list ...

... and back them up. We took 2 external portable hard drives which were small and light weight, each holding 120 GB, plus our laptop so we had 3 fully backed up copies in case anything got lost or stolen. We would definitely do the laptop again as it made it easy to download our pictures every night and allowed us to email when we wanted to. Blogging: We loved blogging throughout our trip as it was an excellent way to track our journey but also a way to ...

The leaves are dropping fast

We're back. You could have set your watch by our arrival time. Hop off the train, we see our car there waiting in the parking lot. The little cart is hauling luggage in, ah, this small-town Edmonds stop is so convenient, no hassle and no wait. We hand our claim checks out and get our bags, and life is back to normal once again. The ...

Suggestions for places to travel in North America

... sand" gypsum and it was beautiful and spooky. I was on acid at the time, but really didn't need to be. It's definitely a one of a kind place. first off, it's really not that hot. it's much different than arizona. the altitude in albq is higher than denver and santa fe/taos even higher. (santa fe is usually ~10 degrees cooler than albq. also, the air is very dry, which makes heat easier to tolerate. most houses and many businesses get by very well with evaporative cooling ...
