Marla's mom and dad again joined us on this day trip. Once again this trip took us an hour to get there. It seems like most everything is an hour away. The reason we went to Annapolis was to go to William Paca House to see the garden. Marla's mom read about it in a magazine she gets. So when we got to Annapolis, we stopped at the Visitors Center to check out ...

Washington DC, District of Columbia, United States sophiegrimm... the fact it was surrounded by veterans at the time of our visit. We headed back to the metro station and found our way back. We hopped on our metro and headed back home. We certainly were late arrivals back for dinner but felt we had exhausted Washington (and ourselves) by this time. Again we caught up with Owen and Bev, to recap on their days outing and compare battle storeys of the day. Sleep was a much required commodity tonight.
Washington DC, District of Columbia, United States popusa2008You speak Uzbek now? So what. I SPEAK ACRONYM. To truly do this blog justice and fully explore the meaning of "going nowhere," where better to start than at a UN meeting? Therefore, I will soon be embarking-- purely for the sake of investigative journalism-- and in preparation I have been doing a fair bit of reading. Here are the acronyms encountered in just one 40 page backgrounder (one of the more readable ones at that): UNFCCC ...

New York, New York, United States deans_diary... Grameen Bank has helped lift millions of people out of poverty and help them help themselves to make a better life. I learned about microcredit this past spring in one of my classes, and it was so great to see that this economic miracle that so often goes under the radar is actually being recognized as a pathway to peace. If you are interested, the CNN interview is being replayed several times on their network, so in addition to learning about microcredit, you might catch a glimpse of ...
Washington, DC, United States olsencv... Creek), Demi and Ashton, Sharon Stone (very beautiful), Christian Slater (terrible hair) and William H Macy. So, back to the New York tales... We arrived here last Monday night. We've been staying with Davids sisters future husband (I've been putting in good words for you Louise) Mike. He lives in Brooklyn, just by the Brooklyn bridge. Walking down the street in Brooklyn, we are usually the only white people. We saw the best t-shirt ever one night - "I love black men ...
New York, New York, United States ailsa_and_davidHere are just some fun pictures from visiting all my friends in Annapolis. We spent some quality time at the area bars. Ode to Annapolis -We're surrounded by water, snobby "johnies", and catholic school kids. We sport Polo and Lilly Pulitzer like it's our job. Crabs and beer are our diet, we wear flip-flops year around, we know what Ego-Alley is, we know that we could go downtown to ACME in high school and get served no questions asked, we know ...

Oct. 10 After spending a quiet night at anchor in Chesapeake City, we crossed the canal to Schaeffer's Marine for fuel and a pump out and to wash the residue of the salt spray from the boat. Now after one month in salt water, we are experiencing rust spots on the stainless steel and even pitting on the aluminum stanchions. During one of ...
