We had walked around Charleston quite a bit before dinner (trying to find a grocery store, etc. - found Harris Teeter), but then walked some more out to Waterfront Park where I dipped my feet in the fountain because by now they were starting to hurt! Charleston is beautiful, with old homes and moss in the trees.

Interestingly, because Charleston was part of the losing South in the Civil war, for a 100 years after the war, the town had no money afterwards to build modern structures and things like that so it ended keeping most of its pre-civil war buildings and is now booming in tourism as the city to experience old America.

Spent the last 2 days in Charleston! What an amazing city!! We spent most of our time in the French Quarter - took a horse and carriage ride through town, toured the Calhoun Mansion (unbelievable), walked all over town, saw the sun set at the ocean, had great ribs at Sticky Fingers and lots of good seafood! Ended our night at The Gin Joint - really interesting and fun place - got the headache this morning to prove ...
