last night in Santorini

Well, a very enjoyable last night in Santorini. had dinner at a lovely restaurant overlooking the sunset strip. Pity it wasn't the clearest of nights but still spectacular.
Dinner consisted of grilled pork with pureed red pepper and potatoes with cheese and Souvlaki Lamb with baked potato.
A 5.00 am start got us on to the flight to Athens then Rome.

Last day in Santorini

After a sleep in we wandered into town to choose a suitable location for our anniversary dinner tonight (21 years!).
As usual we just had to take more photos ~ don't worry, after a few more tonight this will be all of Santorini.
Next, Italy where the forecast is 0 to 14 degrees. BRR BRR

Ahoy There!

The weather has improved remarkably, the wind dropping from the 40 knot+ from yesterday as we set off on the sailing vessel "Captain Yannis". We departed Amoudi Wharf and motored to Nea Kameni, the volcano island, where we saw the evidence of eruptions dating back to 1630 BC.
That first eruption was 70 times larger than Krakatoa in Indonesia and produced a tsunami 250m high!
The most recent eruption was in 1950 and even today we could see hot steam venting from the ...

... we have seen so far. We went on a bus tour to the populartourist vacation area of Paleokastritsa. We stopped to take some pictures and would have had time for a swim but I hadn't brought my bathing suit. We then headed up a huge hill, winding up and up on the bus and squeezing through the narrow streets of a tiny town where locals waved at us, to reach a viewpoint named Bella Vista (beautiful view) by visiting Italians years ago. We were directly above where ...

Jake: "I'll come get you....

Jake had rented a scooter earlier that day....

Now, imagine it's 530am, I'm trashed, I'm sure jake is, yet, I got on
the scooter and proceeded to hang onto Jake's body for dear life. At
one point I thought it would be a idea to take a picture while he was
riding it...and that concludes day two.

... size bed, and 2 twin beds. I knew that Colin would end up spending the night so I just switched rooms with him. I twas gonna be fun sharing a room with Peter and Chitty. Waking up the next morning was great. I put my bikini on and spent the entire day by the pool working on my tan. That evening we went out to the village to enjoy a night of bar hopping. I was amazed about how all the clubs only opened at midnight and closed the next morning. We had to climb about a km beofre we got into ...

Lost in Ios

Still here still here. Ahhh!! Why is it so hard to leave I do not know. Actually it's pretty easy to figure out. I get to suntan on a beach all day in the heat with the sound of the waves crashing onto the shore all day everyday and I am loving it. It's so hard to leave, I am just in the rhythm here. I really don't have much to report as that pretty much sums up what I do here everyday. I really could have stayed for the summer, alas I could NOT handle this place in ...

Help! This was probably a bad choice, and the travel agent told us so, but Joe insisted that we see Ios, also known by the Irish as "Irish Over Seas". Maybe during the summer, but near winter? NOOOOO! Joe and I arrived on a 90 minute ferry and was greeted by the owner of the hotel who was so nice, and drove us up to the hotel. She showed us the shortcuts to town, the supermarket and where to rent a car, but she forgot to tell us that everything was ...

... Dean) and slept until 2pm. Oops. Oh well, we realised later that thats what you do on ios. Sleep until midday then get up, go out at midnight to party. We walked our little white block pathway to the town and explored the shops. Really cute. Steps and winding corridors, easy to get lost but somehow really easy to find home. Had a breakfast crepe with egg bacon tomato cheese and onion. So yum. Went ...
