    ... in the local vicinity about 7pm, firstly viewing the motel facilities; top location for the ice machine, right next to our room & much needed for my later cocktails, and a laundry room nearby. Also outside was a swimming pool, which although it did look like pea soup, it was just too hard to resist not performing some fully clothed top bombing. The reception must have wondered what on earth we were playing at - at this time of night! After shaking myself down ...

    ... wasn't doing much to sell it, in fact she almost sounded as though she was dissuading us from coming. But options are limited at this point so that's where we're going. Driving away from the highway Randy starts to question my judgement, and even more so as the pavement ends and the road turns to gravel.     ... Kansas runs only 12 miles......so we drove through to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ian was very happy that it was NOT a dry county !!!!!! So, we drove right through our fifth state and about a third of the way into our sixth. We will be staying until Friday in order to do some sight seeing and resting ...

    ... of detours.

    The Aussie was with us but then we lost him, thinking that he had gone for fuel.

    We went to Wezzy's Roadhouse in Hamel for lunch which was interesting.

    We all had a fantastic ride today through the cornfields and sheltered tree lined roads. In fact, we were all a bit sad when we had to get onto the motorway to cover some of the inaccessible areas of Route 66.

    ... to have a quick nose bag. We all attended the Road Captains, Ass't Road Captains and Tail gunners brief and were introduced to their opposite numbers in the other groups. All said that they were pleased that we had been selected to fill these positions. After that, and the main brief, we started the ride at 08:00... to Rolla via Effingham.
