... in the local vicinity about 7pm, firstly viewing the motel facilities; top location for the ice machine, right next to our room & much needed for my later cocktails, and a laundry room nearby. Also outside was a swimming pool, which although it did look like pea soup, it was just too hard to resist not performing some fully clothed top bombing. The reception must have wondered what on earth we were playing at - at this time of night! After shaking myself down ...

Rain came right after we got settled in our room. Lucky for us We seemed calmer tonight. We picked up some dinner, watched some TV. In Carthage, Missouri we visited a beautiful historic courthouse with an antique cage elevator that still works. We "shot" the Sheriff and his two deputies.......so we got out of Missouri in a hurry. Route ...

We left Springfield and on the way, stopped and took a photo of Abe Lincoln's house. We also took shots of Shea's garage which is a bit famous for the metal plaques and old petrol pumps outside - unfortunately, it was closed at the time.

We had a bit of bother actually trying to find Route 66 and ended up back at our starting point, past Lincoln's house. You need to keep your eyes open at the sides of the roads, overhead passes and in front, so we had ...
