Una Sangria Por Favor

... but we thought it was a bit weird in its design.
Barcelona has a variety of architecture because it was occupied by numerous different empires throughout its history. The current centre of the city is actually built on top of the old Roman city. We saw gates to the city that were 2/3 underground. There are three different layers.
We saw quite a bit considering Steve wasn't feeling well and we were quite tired ...

Still in Barcelona

Today we took a walking tour of Barcelona.

Then we had a look at the Picasso Museum, which is a chronological look at Picasso's paintings, from when he was about 12 until old age.

It was fascinating to see the evolution of his painting, from realism in his youth to his own style of decided non-realism as he got older.

Then we took the subway to ...

... at which I am improving at an ungodly rate). Then, we hopped on the train to the city. It's definitely a vibrant town. There were palm trees everywhere, the avenues were wide, and there was a bar and/or tapas joint on almost every corner. We decided to do as the Spanish do on a Friday evening and tapas hop. Tapas are like little finger food... think about pub hopping, but add some excellent appetizers and ...

Can't believe its been almost 2 weeks already!

... here. We actually have been talking a lot every day, and I've seen him every day except for a couple since we met last week... and last night he took me to a movie (Crepusculo, which is spanish for Twilight) and then got Mcdonalds (how romantic, haha!) and ate up on the top of the mountain where you can see the ENTIRE city. Sooo beautiful!! He also showed me his house --he lives w/ his parents still, along with probably every person we've met, to save ...

... to me that young people here mostly live with their parents still. It's different in the US. Granted it's cheaper to live with your parents but I don't know many people who would choose to. Take Joan for example, he's 28 already but he doesn't seem to have any plans to set off on his own. I'm sure it's just another cultural difference. I was thinking the other day about how I'd like to have the ...

... or maybe we just smelled bad? anyhow, the scotsman had creeped me out (though they were a great bunch of "blokes" only difficult to understand at times) about barcelona. so we conceded to my anxiety; i was freezing (we lost our heat source in the sunset) and eric was sick as a dog, so we locked ourselves away in our room all night. luckily, we had our own tv, so we spent the night cheering for both spanish "minor-league" futbol teams. at night's end, i don't remember who won...

... was wonderful other than the aroma of bacalau (dried salted codfish) stewing in the kitchen... let's hope they only eat fish on Fridays! No such religious traditions for us... Paul had a Catalan meal of: * Catalan snails - which he took great delight in pulling from their shells with a toothpick * Catalan Sausage - A lot like a Cumberland sausage but coated in garlic. * Catalan Creme - a cross between creme caramel, custard and creme brulee. Tonya had rabbit in garlic ...
