Excellent, will definetly return there again!
I am so glad we found this place and stayed there for 2 nights. Very friendly front desk lady let us in even before check-in time. Great room, clean, kitchen fully loaded with everything you need. Our room faced empty lot, so was no noise at all. LOCATION! It is unbeatable. Everything just couple steps away, you walk through the shopping center, and you are there--in the heart of Hollywood, it is amaizing! Safe, very safe location, we walked there after midnight, quiet and nice. Swimming pool was clean and warm. Room had safe-deposit box, buit-in the closet, nice! Garage is under the building, automatic door, laundry, snack machine, what elce would you need? They even have computer in the hallway, bit too much, 2$ for 10 minutes, anyways internet caffe is just across the Highland av:) We planning to come back there in December, and definetly will book this place again! A++++ for everything.
Perfect setting in Hollywood
Booked this place based on the reviews on Tripadvisor and was pleasantly surprised. The Hotel doesn't look that good from the outside, but the guys in the lobby was very helpful with the check in. Great garage! Our cousin could park her car there for a couple of hours while she showed us around Hollywood, Walk of Fame, etc. The room was gigantic, but a little run down. Huge kitchen facilities, bathroom okay, alcove for eating and no problem to place a roller bed in there. Be aware; there are only 4 roller beds at the hotel! Small pool which we didn't use, but it looked okay. The morning noice was a little bit tiresome, lots of delivery trucks going to nearby places. But you pay for the location! And what location it is!! 2 minutes walk and you are standing outside Kodak Theater, Walk of Fame, Chinese Theater, etc!!! All in all; wouldn't hesitate to go back if I need to stay a couple of nights in the Hollywood area. The hotel can also cut you a deal on the enterance fee at Universal Studios!
Problem at Orchid Suites
After reading all of the great review on this site we were looking forward to our stay at the Orchid Suites
Upon trying to check in here after making reservations 5 months ahead of time we were told there was a problem with our reservation that the people who had stayed in our room the previous night did not want to leave but stay two more days. ( I later wondered if they were friends or relatives of the management)
To me that should not have been my problem they should have been told the room was not available due to a previous reservation. We have traveled extensively and I have never felt compelled to write on this board before but I don't want what happened to us to happen to someone else.
We were shown a smaller room but told them that was not acceptable for three people since we had reserved a room with a separate bedroom and living room due to breathing problems my husband has.
They told us they didn't know what they were going to do. By this time I told them maybe they should book us into another hotel. All of a sudden they decided to move the people out of our reserved room and have it ready in an hour for us. The whole incident left a bad taste.
The hotel was convenient and the heated pool was nice.
We did notice two different groups of people disputing charges on their bills when we were checking out.
A good place to stay --- but be careful!!!!!!!!!!!!
A real gem
Stayed two nights in early June with my wife and two children but wish we had booked for more. The hotel is neat and clean, tucked away on a quiet back street but -- oddly enough -- in the heart of Hollywood. It backs up to the Kodak Theater. The rooms were spacious, and the staff was helpful and gracious. Pool and free underground parking were nice touches, as was the small rooftop garden. Prices were very reasonable. My only fear in highly recommending the Orchid Suites is that I'd like to keep the secret to myself.
Great Location, Great Value
Stayed here 23 thru 25 april 2004.
This is probably one of the best deals one can get in Hollywood. Staff is very friendly, rooms are BIG and very clean, (underground) parking is free. One short walk (100 m) to Hollywood boulevard / KODAK theatre & Mann's Chinese theatre; the nicest & safest bit of the boulevard if you ask me.
Easy access to the freeways to explore the rest of LA as well.
This one comes highly recommended. Will return when I get the chance!
Good average older hotel for the price
This hotel served our purpose well. We wanted a low cost, half way decent hotel in the middle of hollywood. It's a little old with view of apartments out the window. Air conditioner and shower were GREAT. The only thing is there was nowhere to park to check in. Just pull over. It's one block from Graumans Chinese Theater and Hollywood walk of fame. Across from new Hollywood and Highland shopping center. Plenty of souvenir shops. There were alot of security doors which was intimidating but I never felt threatened. Walking the area in the day seems fine. For the price it was good.
I stayed there five nights in February, and am going back next week!
You can't beat the location or price!! Rooms were clean and service was good! Don't ask for anything from the front dest though, they couldn't help us find a restaurant outside the Hollywood and Highland complex!
(There are several restaurants in walking distance we found out later).
I would definitely recommend it! Go see On Air with Ryan Seacrest at the complex too! Great show!!!!!!
Perfect if your want to walk Hollywood!!
Huge rooms, and pleasant staff. The best part is the location. True walking distance to the Boulevard (one block). Safe street, secured parking and entrance and great price. We'll be back for the next good movie opening/playing at the El Capitan Theatre!!!!
Yes I agree with the previous post. we stayed at the orchid Suites in June and found it very nice. Highland and Hollywood is nice but most of the rest of the area is pretty shabby. The orchid suites made our one time trip to Hollywood decent. I would recomend Orchid Suites if you have to stay in the area/
I stayed there with a group of girls for a time of 2 weeks! We had a great time! IT is a great location and we even got to see a movie premeir at Mann's Theater. Conventienly located near great shopping at Hollywood & Highland and great eating places. I would recomend this place to anyone and I would stay there again! Even the guards at Hollywood and Highland are all very nice. Parking was good because it is all underground and reserved for guests only!

Slept pretty well last night after finally falling asleep around the 1am mark. Woke at 5:15am but decided going back to sleep was a good option, managed to remain asleep till 7:06am but still awake 24 minutes before the alarm. Ready for the day and we make our way to the hotel complimentary breakfast. Both had croissants today, I'm thinking a bagel …
Started the day off to another rainy, windy day in St. Louis and a bagel with cream cheese and strawberry jam. Arranged to have a later check out then off to my Busch Stadium tour. Was able to go into the dugout, the clubhouse, the red bird rooms and broadcast booth. Tour guide was very knowledgable and clearly loves his Cardinals. When baseball …
Another 6.45 train to catch this morning, but it was no hardship having to leave THAT hostel early. The train journey was as stunning as the last one, only this time we even saw dolphins skipping through the waters as we cruised along the beaches. When we arrived in Hollywood, the metro station was suitably exciting, decorated with giant cameras...
Sadly we say goodbye to Napa Valley and the wine country. With our 'balloon' wine safely packed away we hit the road. We embarked on our journey down the west coast of the States driving along the famous road – Route 1. This drive has been named as one of the most scenic drives in the world – we weren’t disappointed.
Had a couple quiet hours to myself this morning. Splashed water on my face, threw on some sweats and ran two blocks for a super strong take out coffee. Felt very self consious and completely out of place looking so downmarket amongst all this glamour. Back to the room, jumped into bed and turned on the computer.
Skyped my boy. Im going ...
