... and she clicked a couple things on the computer. (That's how it has been the whole time here, I go places and people just click things on computers: at the realtor, electric company, and opening my damage deposit account. At least when I opened my bank account the guy turned the screen towards me so I could see what he was clicking.) The lady also made a copy of my lease. When I was waiting I got a cup of water from a dispenser in the lobby ...
Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany jrsours... ideas about what to change about the world as a class. Tomorrow we will work individually and the students will begin writing their chapters.
I actually wasn't nervous today, even though it was my first time teaching alone here. I think my experience with student teaching really helps this. I can't imagine having no teaching experience and getting up there by myself. I would be like a deer in headlights!
Was busy this ...
... use my fingers to eat wings, but other than that, very delicious.
Tomorrow I have to:
1. get up and go get my apartment looked at by the rental agency to make sure of the apartment's condition so they can ensure that the room is returned in the same condition
2. go to the electric company and sign up so I can have power at my new place
3. go to the bank and finalize my damage ...
After popping into and out of Germany, we were now back in Belgium. It was beginning to get a bit dark, and we still had at least 200 miles left to drive.
Gaz's motor was struggling, and threatening to overheat, so we stopped to let it cool down.
With the vehicles all decorated with stickers, we attracted a bit of attention, and a Belgian couple took our ...
... on.
We stopped at one point, because the roadbook wasn't very clear, at which point Gaz and Charlotte came up behind us. They had been left behind by the V8s, as they were in a Series vehicle, so we said we'd stick with them.
At this point, Kieran noticed a strange noise from our engine, which was duly investigated by James. It was diagnosed as the fan belt tensioning pulley. But we didn't do anything about it at the time.
... beautiful, and you can see lots of pictures of it on my gallery:

We saw lots of old churches from the 1500s and a castle/fort, which is in the pictures.
Also yesterday I signed the lease for my new apartment! Nil came with me and basically did all of the talking, and I am very grateful for that, because it would have been difficult to do by myself, signing ...

So I am sitting in my first class at school now. It's a German class. The students are supposed to be reading a story and I am trying to type very quietly…
I was busy yesterday. Well the day before yesterday I went to an office in Aachen like city hall and registered myself and my address . It was the first part of a two part process that I have to complete in order to stay here ...
We 'trundled down past Maastricht towards Germany. The deviations were big ones but we still were able to make good time! The scenery was worth the deviations though. We past by some wonderful little towns and river gorges. Very nice bit of countryside. Will have to return there sometime, God willing!
... Germany and Belgium meet. I checked on my map, and found it was barely 1km away. Itīd be rude not to, I thought to myself. What I didnīt realise was that while it was only one kilometer away, that kilometer winds around Hollandīs one and only hill, and the Dreilandespunkt is also Hollands highest point (a whopping 327m above sea level. Of course I stopped periodically to aclimatise). The detour having taken longer than expected, I arrived in Aachen after the ...
Aachen, Germany dynamoHello!!! How is everyone? I'm doing fine. I left the Hamburg, Germany airport just over a week ago. Since then, I: had a big night of drinking German steins of beer with thirty- and forty-something millionaires; played darts and bought rounds of drinks in the Netherlands; got invited in to a stone 17th-century home in a small Belgian village; found a job amongst the wineyard hills of rural Luxembourg; and paid a visit to my buddy Elaine. Whoo ... In the past, my college ...
