... up. I had a computer in front of me while we were chatting so I looked up train schedules from to Strasbourg for him and for me, and we agreed to meet in the station around the time his train arrives.

On the train from Basel, I learned the hard way that dogs do not travel for free on TV trains. I was charged a large fine on top of the fare for a small dog. His one-way fare was more than half my round trip fare! Luckily I had found a good seat sale for ...
Strasbourg, Alsace, France travelingdiva... France section of town, and we had a great Alsatian meal – me with a classic tarte flambee (Alsatian pizza-like dish) and the local brew, Kronenbourg.

We concluded our pleasant, one-night sojourn in Strasbourg by watching the Marseilles-Real Madrid game in the hotel, and we finally found out the correct pronunciation of the region’s famous wine – Gewürztraminer. The 'w’ is pronounced as a ‘v’, and the ...
Strasbourg, Alsace, France leandroop... hotel is a big picture of the little prince AND apparently the rooms are decorated after different themes from the book. I didn't get to go in but someday I will definitely stay there.
I also saw my first movie in a German theatre which was really cool...I saw Up, I liked it but obviously didn't understand much. Anyway, I definitely recommend it...even just for a few hours!
Baden-Baden, Baden-Württemberg, Germany katerilalaineLast leg of the European jaunt and we've decided to try out the Black Forest...the bad weather was the final nail in the coffin and after 3 days of dripping foggy weather, we decided to jack in the caravan and head to Octoberfest, but more of that later.

So a quick trip to a 500 yr old stud farm started by King Wilhelm the 1st, where they breed beautiful Black Forest horses and Arabs then, Baden Baden to take in the sights of this thermal spa town and ...
Baden-Baden, Baden-Württemberg, Germany sarahandstutour... Display cases with guns and ammo. There was also sitting area where you could watch a film about the Natzi's. There was even a cast iron statue of Hitler buried up to his neck. It was all in German so I couldn't understand much of it. And then I walked through another door and found myself staring at a wooden plank with a hole cut in it - the toilet.

Schwarzwalder, Baden-Württemberg, Germany laters... tarte flambée contains only bacon and onions. We decided to take it to the next level where they also add cheese as a topping. It was delicious! We completed our meal with French beer, Kronenbourg, which is everywhere here (though I have drank it in Canada as well). After lunch we started our second audio tour but were tired of walking long before it was completed. We had visited many important buildings outside of the ...
Strasbourg, Alsace, France travelingdivaWe caught the wrong train and wound up in Gengenbach. While we were waiting for a train back we met a lady who told us the town had a beautiful old-town section. So we went discovering again. After a good look around we stopped at a pub while we were waiting for the next train and got talking to the owner. Turns out he'd been to Australia on holiday, so we had a good time talking to him until it was time to go.
Gengenbach, Baden-Württemberg, Germany danandrozFriday: I checked out rather early today; 9:00. For the next six hours I proceeded to hike through the Black Forest using two ****** hiking maps as a guide, and occasionally the terrible city map as well. the hiking was very nice here, it reminded me quite a bit of Washington. I saw deer, wild boar, the largest rabbit of all time, and goats (don't tell Mimi). After reaching the top of a ridge, I began to work my way down on into another town. Then it rained ...
Baden-Baden, Baden-Württemberg, Germany dabassisst... in one direction, and into the Schwarzwald (Black Forest) mountains in the other. We catch the train in Achern at exactly 14:41. German trains are always on time. It is a peaceful journey through the heart of the Scharzwald. We pass through many villages along the way: some historic, some modern, most are a combination of both. All look very comfortable and sustainable, with active farms and factories, and direct ...
