Going Dutch at the national park

A travel blog entry by ric_cheetham on Jul 11, 2015

We had a great stop off at De Hoge Veluwe national park where we borrowed some free white Dutch bikes, proper ones without brakes and went for a very enjoyable ride through the park. They are like riding grown up sized choppers. Also finally had some apple cake and went to a museum to get some culture, it was about animals living underground, not that cultural but ...

... at Beerz was called camping de Roos and was a very nice 'natural site' on the river, it was car free so couldn't move the van once parked till we left again. On the first day here Kat fainted while doing the washing up and then again on the way back to the van, was pretty scary but she was fine after a while chilling in the van, there ...

... over the years. It was really interesting and so well done. The idea of the museum is that you see everything that happens overground and then you go underground. So we followed the tunnel below ground and spent ages discovering the second fascinating displays. More creatures and lots of skulls and fossils, an exhibit on water and human use / waste of water and how the waterways get polluted. Fascinating stuff. Definitely worth a visit - fab for kids. We finished the tour ...

... packed my big bag, and hopefully will not be opening it again until I reach NZ. I have added 2 fitpaws donuts and 1 donut ring in there - should be my final purchases before I reach home. Deb is thinking of getting some dry bed as it is very cheap here - 25 euros for a 1x1.5m piece. She must have more room than I realised!

4 nights to go and a long plane ride...
