... here was the parking, which was €1.00 for 4 hours. Dune du Pyla is the tallest sand dune in Europe, and overlooks both hinterland and the sea. We just sat at the top of the dune for a while and took it all in. Again, another place to bring the parents, maybe with a picnic and some nice Bordeaux wine! ... a cold one too! So Jayden went back to training on Boxing Day, so I decided to make my way into the city by tram and explore. I managed to stop right outside the shopping hub, Rue Saint Catherine, where I may have done a little damage to the funds! The shopping hub is beautiful however. ... cost only 4 euro 30 cents and could be used on the tram, bus and also the ‘boris’ bikes….bargain……altho ugh I couldn’t quite get Paul onto one of the bikes, I think the shopping basket may have put him off ;0).

... too many springs and screws! So to solve this it was back to the good old reliable duct tape - two times round the box and it was closed tight! Onwards to the island and after a lap in searing heat we made for the boat at Royan.
