Brewton AL to Crestview FLORIDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
... and talking and maybe even eating ice cream, and not enough time riding because riding after dark in a strange area is not fun. At least our bikes are equipped with good lighting so we feel somewhat comforted to ride at night if we have to. Our final turn was onto Florida State Route 85. It's now dark and it's definitely rush hour; we have just short of a mile to go, all uphill. We arrived at the hotel late and hungry with an impending ...
Fantastic beaches. Love Florida.
... by the beach this place is great. We rode along the coastline it was very windy we passed over a very long toll bridge. How long? The sign before entering the bridge states make sure you have enough fuel very long bridge.
We crossed the bridge and continued following the beach road. Then we met a road closed sign at Pensacola Beach and ...

So one last stroll on the beach, one last fruit ninja card game, and off to bed. Tomorrow we attempt the drive home, hoping to make it in one day. Funny, I am ready to go home. But I also secretly wish I had a life where I could just bum around the beach all day. Oh well. Maybe one of my gambler kids can win the ...

And ended the night with the ritual of sitting on the beach staring at stars. Sebastian managed to launch a flashlight at johns head, but otherwise these evenings go without incident. Tomorrow is last day; I suspect we'll do pretty much what we've been doing: beach, beach, ...
Lazy? Day
I must be getting old. Or I'm getting dehydrated. Either way, I'm pooping out about 8pm. Yikes. Rain again it not enough to keep us away from the beach. Winds made for some Big waves, which we all decided to brave. I think I got my workout for the week. Fun getting swept away, but that does mean walking back through that surf...over and over again. Lunched at Jin Jim 98 Asian restaurant. Decent take out ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Holiday Surf & Racquet Club Destin
Thumbs up!!!!!!
I can not express how happy we have been with Holiday Surf. Our family have been staying there for the past 5 years. We are still in tears at the damage that Ivan caused, and that our reservations have been cancelled. We will be back next year! Just the place to take your family, and the beach is right there. The staff is great. I do highly recommend Holiday Surf for your next visit to Destin.
Nice place to stay
Very impressed with the location of this condo. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Although the pool was small in size it was very well maintained. Free use of the Bar-BQ pits was nice while you have idle chat with other guess. Noticed most guess have been coming to Holiday Surf for many years. The Holiday Surf is a nice place for a family vacation and well recommended. Our family looks forward to future vacations at The Holiday Surf in the years to come.
Can't say enough great things
Best place in Destin! Our family has been staying at Holiday Surf and Racquet Club since 1986! It is located in the older developed areas.
Unlike many of the new and larger places, HSRC provides more beach for the guests and a safe place for families. It is a great place for families with small children who can play on the beach and not be at risk of being trampled on or hard to keep an eye on. Even though it is an older development, the units are updated and very clean. The front desk staff are wonderful and always make us feel as if we are at our second home. They even remember our childrens names! I would recommend, and do when ever I can, to anyone visiting Destin with families or just wanting to relax and get away from the busy schedules of everyday life.
I didn't even mention the low rates! A friend told me that they paid twice as much as I did for the same week because HSRC was booked up. We would never stay anywhere else! We don't even go to anywhere besides Destin because we know we can beat the vacation we have when we are there.
I always stay at Holiday Surf and Racquet
My family and I have been traveling to Destin EVERY Labor Day weekend for the past 8 years. We have never stayed anywhere but the Holiday Surf and Racquet Club. The staff is wonderful and the rooms are always nice. I dont think I would ever stay anywhere else!
Nice, laid-back older condo development
The Holiday Surf and Racquet Club is an older condo development in the Holiday Isle section of Destin. It has been certainly been kept up to date. The pool area was really nice... the beach was beautiful with the umbrella and chairs furnished...our one-bedroom condo was pretty and nicely furnished...all condos face the ocean....extremely affordably priced. Since most condos are individually owned, it is a good idea to discuss with the management what your expectations and needs are for the condo when you make your reservations. It is our experience that condos in the same complex can vary greatly. Ours was a non-smoking one. I asked for one that had been refurbished during the last couple of years.
An Emerald Coast Jewel
This was our first time staying in Destin. We have traveled to various Florida destinations over the past years, and decided to stay in Destin this year. Like many people these days, we relied on the internet for lodging help. Their website is wonderful. As you will find the facility is super clean and the staff is very friendly. We did not have any complaints to share. The condo is located ocean-front but off of the main strip, which is very desirable due to heavy traffic. We would recommend Holiday Surf & Racquet Club to any family wanting a clean, affordable, and friendly place to stay.
Great things about Holiday Surf and Racquet Club
The best things about Holiday Surf and Racquet club are these:
1. The view! Everyone can sit on their own screened-in balcony and look at the beautiful beach. I love eating out there and everything!
2. On the beach, you get a beach umbrella and 2 beach chairs included in your rental fee! This is a priceless perk! You don't have to lug your own!
3. There is even an air pump at the pool that blows up your floats lickety-split! What a bonus!
4. There is a video rental store in the lobby--grrreat!
5. Our unit had a t.v. and a v.c.r. in both the bedroom and the living room. One for you and one for the kids! Yay!
6. The location of it is great because you are near the best restaurants, attractions, and shopping centers! I need to stop now, because we don't visit until August, and I can't wait!
The only bad things are:
1. The bathroom vanity is so small you can't put hardly any stuff on it (rollers, hair dryer, etc..)--in the one-bedroom unit, anyway. Just bring an extension cord with you and use the dresser in the bedroom instead.
2. Sometimes the elevator is so far from your unit that you have to walk up several flights of stairs to come in from the beach.
3. The laundry rooms are only on 2 floors--and you want to be on one of those floors!
The good definitely weighs out the bad!
Very nice Staff
THe People that work for Holiday Surf & Racquet Club are very pleasant and helpful. I would recommend the place to all my friends.
Ab Fab!
Great resort! The area is stunning and the employees at the resort are the best. Thanks Holiday Surf- I'll be back again!
Wonderful experiance
This was a trip that will not be forgotten. The experiance was that of a tropical vacation that went by to quickly. The view was amazing, the service, facilities, food were all exceptional and top notch. The beaches are clean, soft sand and the water is unbelievable and emerald green/blue, and its all a few foot steps from your room! Fishing is out of this world! the largest charter fishing fleet is located here in Destin, and the surf and peer fishing offers great oportunities as well. The Big game fishing is not far off shore either, as the gulf here is blessed with deep water not to far out and deep caynon's where sordfish, and marlins roam. There is other things to do too. The shoping is a never ending event in itself if you wish, with huge outlet malls galor! tourist attractions, Gulfarium animal/marine show, a zoo withing a short driving distance, amusment/water parks etc..This is a tourist paradise and the Holiday Inn Surf made it that much better...the location can not get any better and again: the people, staff, facility, food, on-site activites, informative and easy to navigate website and of coarse the view is absolutely top notch....does not get any better.
