Onto the Island!

... its doors. The unwritten rule of the bar is that everybody should leave something behind, this can be anything but it seems the most common request for the ladies is to leave their bras behind! Kristina left a passport photo of me and the mini Fresian flag that Piet had given us in Medicine Hat. She wedged these under the Perspex protective cover of the table we were sitting at whilst I was distracted at the bar, so my 21 year old face will be forever in ...

The start of my Mexican Adventure

... Country in between Vernon and Kelowna in the Okanagan Valley. It was a perfect road trip - music from my Zune loud and clear, dry, uncrowded roads, supreme, constantly changing scenery.
I love BC! Every time I drive through it I'm reminded that it's the most beautiful place in the world.

The Sweet Things In Life Include Lavender Cookies

... Could be. We debated that and any number of other topics while enjoying a leisurely balcony picnic involving left over pizza, duck, and pad Thai in a cup. Our one plastic fork broke early in the mission so it became an adventure in creative eating.

By late morning, after we'd reviewed our emails and made a number of work-related phone calls, we were ready to go exploring. We drove to nearby Sequim (which we learned is ...

Relaxation Time

Day 67 - August 17th 2007 So, after completing the grueling West Coast Trail in only two and a half days, we manage to get on the last bus out of Port Renfrew to the islands capital city, Victoria. Now given our previous record at finding hotels, we didn't have much confidence when we arrived in the city without a place to stay. Things were about to take an upwards turn though as we got ...

Heading to the Olympic National Park area!

... The boys were thrilled to finally get out of the car and had a ball playing in the pond with water, a stick, and a water wheel. After a little relaxing time, we headed out to see Sequim (not much to see here) and have dinner. On our drive home, we went by the National Wildlife Refuge and Dungeness Spit for a short hike. At the beginning of the Spit (looks like a jetty) we could see the lighthouse 6 miles out and the ferry passing by. The boys spotted many deer ...

Rem and Frank.

... s a warped box and has a ton of interesting features around every corner. I especially liked the red floor. It's the first work of Rem's that I have seen in person and I was very impressed. We had dinner in Chinatown. It was a nice place. We were the only ones eating in the dining room. In a closed off room next to where we were eating you could hear the shuffling of mahjong blocks. It felt appropriate to the moment. It was a nice way to end the trip.

Museum of British Columbia, Victoria

... computers have been locked down)- hence all the updates! The Museum of British Columbia was really good - it was obviously aimed at kids so me and Dean obviously loved it - they had crazy golf with each hole themed and with boards to make it educational (Dean won), Tobbogan race simulation machines (I won), chance to make cars out of lego and then race them (I won), pedal bikes to see how fast and how much horse power you could generate (about 0.5 hp between us). They also had some ...

Seattle: going, going...gone.

Well, this is it. My last full day in the Emerald City and I had the pleasure of waking up to a pretty solid rainstorm. Ahhh...the memories. What will I miss most about Seattle, you ask? Will it be the 7 months of rain (or longer), the indie rock hipster cats that gyrate and percolate in the numerous coffeeshops, how 'bout the fertile/ever-changing music scene, or the amazing outdoor potential that this area has? Well, I suppose I'll miss all ...
