... up and I climbed down maybe a 15 foot waterfall CAREFULLY to reach the top of Lower Sigua. Theres no backing down now! No way I was going back up that muddy hill and sawgrass and then down the rope cliff all over again. Only one way down. Time to man up! So looking down.. which is a little necessary to see where your jumping and what to clear did NOT help my confidence one bit! But I took the plunge and it was very worth it ...
Yigo, Guam guamblog... a lot of Divers feed this guy and he is very friendly... coming out, swirling around you and even touching your mask. At one point it shot straight at me and litterally ran into my camera.. not the brightest crayon in the box but hey.. I guess you dont have to be when people feed you all day! The other real cool thing about that particular dive was the visibility. Its far outside of the harbor so theres not as much ...
Oceanview, Guam guamblog... and both leaked in water and completely shutoff. I guess the pacific didnt agree with them too much. However, this one did real well and ive purchased a nice case and some things to take care of this case. Its a canon with an underwater housing and has taken some amazing pictures. I can't wait to take it wreck diving!
Both dives were pretty cool.. however it was the third time we have dove this spot and the visibility was a little poor. I did ...
... and was used to transport war materials and personnel throughout the Pacific. On January 24, 1943 the Tokai was observed anchored in Apra Harbor by the US submarine FLYING FISH. Assuming that the ship was soon to leave the harbor, the FLYING FISH waited outside the entrance for 3 days. With no movement of the ship or any other vessels, the FLYING FISH fired two torpedoes set to run at 1' depth. One of the torpedoes ran aground on the ...
Oceanview, Guam guamblog... your bouyancy) to the right amount and you can just hang out at any spot without falling or rising. Its like being an astornaut! You can just spin around or do flips with ease and no resistance... I guess you have to do it yourself to understand but its really cool. From the four open water dives we saw everything from sea fans to crazy fish to a sea anenome and huge coral cliffs to a rare spotting of a sea turtle and several underground cables. The same harbor that we dove in ...
Oceanview, Guam guamblogGuam Nyt ensin Wikipediasta poimittu pieni alustus (http://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guam) "Guam on Yhdysvalloille kuuluva Mariaanien saarten suurin, 48 kilometriä pitkä ja 14 kilometriä leveä saari Tyynellämerellä, joka on kuulunut Yhdysvaltain hallintaan Espanjan ja Yhdysvaltain välisestä sodasta 1898 alkaen. Saaren pääkaupunki on Hagåtña (aiemmin Agaña)".
Kohtuuhintaiset lentoliput, 3. Hienoja rantoja, palmuja ja kookoksia pitää löytyä, 4. Suora lento Tokiosta. Vaihtoehdoiksi näillä vaatimuksilla ja tällä aikataululla jäi ainoastaan Guam, Saipan tai Thaimaa, joista Guam tuli yksimielisesti valituksi. Täst ...
Tumon, Guam travellerhansWorking in a research vessel implies a commitment to work long hours, (usually 12 hours shifts) in addition to dealing with potential sea sickness issues. Fortunately I have never gotten sea sick in any of my experiences in R/V which includes expeditions to the Arctic, Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean sea and now in the East Pacific. In any case, I always have my doctor prescribe some medicine. Most people wear an ear ...
Tuam Bay, Guam wildexplorer... if you get caught in it. I chose not to risk it. The History: Okay, I'm not a whiz and I'm not going to lecture here- but Guam was taken over by the Spanish back in the day. They "converted" the native people (in a not so nice way) and settled. The language of Guam has some spanish thrown in for good measure apparently. Someone spoke it to me once and I couldn't make out anything he was saying. There are a lot of leftover remnants of the Spanish ...
Guam, Guam crazystrangeI am extremly excited to say the least! I just landed a job as a "ClubMate" at the Pacific Island Club (PIC), essentially we are frontline PR to our Asian guests. I will also be doing independent internship within the international marketing departments, which will give me 25 credit hours and put me in position to graduate with a Double degree. A 12 hour flight on Halloween night, being picked up by two fellow ClubMates ...
