I got up at about 5 o'clock yesterday morning and got on the road back to Oregon in about 10 to 6. Since I was going to try to make it to Bend by last night I would get an early start. It did work out well and I got to bend about 330 in the afternoon. It was really nice to see Tom and Jen and their kids. We got to work on some music for mom's celebration of life which was really good. Tom is going to bring all ...

... two folks, one a volunteer from Oklahoma and one "fish guy" employee. The volunteer loves this isolated hatchery so much he says he will never leave. The "fish guy", when informed that we are volunteering at Bonneville, tells Jil that if we run out of things to do at Bonneville that we can come back and help here at Wizard Falls! We doubt that will happen, but appreciate the offer.

We are due to arrive at Bonneville September 2- tomorrow is a travel day.

... Today, I took Breezy on a walk from the cottage to the river, and then thru downtown, just seeing what Bendites do on a Sun. morning. Nice walk, and Breezy made lots of new friends, as usual, and I bought some raspberries at the fruit/veg stand a few blocks away. There are many restaurant and other food "carts" within a few blocks. Signing off on the Bend entry now, as tomorrow I am off toward the Olympic peninsula and then Tues take the ferry to Vancouver Island, BC.

... of a hill! Very cool! We then headed around in a loop to see the Sisters (a series of three mountain tops) and then continued to see a few more falls. The Koosah and Sahalie Falls were absolutely beautiful, and the volume of water pouring through them was considerable. These are some falls that you wouldn’t want to fall into, not only because it would be a rough ride, but also because the water is 39F!! We then headed to the Dee ...

... formed after the lake.   It has it's own crater at the top.  Lanton and the kids want to hike around it someday. Then we saw beautiful glacier run off waterfalls and Phantom Ship.  Phantom Ship is the remain rock of a conduit of a fissure (lava) .  It is called Phantom Ship because there are places on the lake that you can not see it because it blends into the background.   It is really cool.  At this point the ...
