... a 'western style' toilet with footprints on the loo seat - maybe a local using it in the traditional Thai way?! We are now on the overnight sleeper train heading on a 12 hour journey to the south of the country. At first the carriage didn't have any beds then as if by magic they transformed the seats and overhead shelves into comfy(ish) beds and we are now set for the night. After the heat and humidity of the city we are now looking forward to the paradise beaches and some island ...

... and Ru were given a cuddly toy each by a couple who had won them. It didn't have the train ride that we loved in 2010 bit it had an added water flume ride that took you back out and up and around the water park from up high. We took Ru and Millie on it, assuming it was fine as babies were allowed, but the rise and drop of it was pretty damn scary! Not that the kids were bothered, they are pretty hard core! We meet up at a typical old school Thai restaurant Ton Kiuang and we are put in a small room already occupied by a large group of Japanese men. They are so loud, we have to wait for pauses in their conversation to talk. The cutlery bounces with the vibrations and there is much hilarity - them with each other, and us with them. ... staggered, stumbled and waved their hands around to the beats. Tuk tuk drivers patiently waiting for their next drunk passenger; beer girls encouraging the drunk to keep drinking; lady-boys up to no good – this was how I remembered things going down. Unfortunately, I was tired and it's way past my usual bed time, so I went back inside to let the young party the night away. After all, the only reason we were here was to catch our early flight the next morning to Myanmar.
