    ... in the sierra foothills, getting medical and dental checkups,  doing a couple little minor repairs,  hiking, photographing, and sorting out the future (maybe). The retreat is located way off the beaten path up a 4 mile gravel road amidst and oak forest on top of Bald mountain at 3100 ft elevation.  It is really, really, REALLY, quiet here.  No fast cars with loud mufflers, or Harley's, just the occasional chicken, ...

After a relatively short ride, we got off at Bibleoteque and were helped by a bookseller with bad English who could tell that we were lost and confused. He directed us to Rue Domremi, the road we were going to be living on. We arrived at our apartment after climbing two flights of stairs.     ... the hotel from the supermarket car park and were only about 50 meters away from it. We were really pleased with our choice of hotel. It was a Best Western and was way above the typical motel standard that we’d been used to. The room was huge with a massive bed and a two seater sofa. Along with this the motel did the best full breakfast we’d had yet with so many choices. We sampled the bacon and eggs on the first day, which were great. The coffees were also good for ...
