I had never thought of travelling to Zurich only to take part in the Street Parade. But back in 2008 some friends wanted me to go there and I did not regret it. It is a real special parade with many friendly people in a very nice city near the Lake Zurich. The central station was also decorated and used for the party, and during night time the big station hall became one of the largest dancing clubs in the world. I can only tell people to go there and enjoy the great ambiance!<br>

... t appeal to me as I didn't want to buy anything and if I did, it was all closed. It seemed the whole city was shut-down. Not because it was post Independance day, but because I guess they really use their Sunday's to relax. I did use the day to plan out my next 2 weeks of traveling. Which allows me to buy a few tickets in advance instead the day prior of day of. <br><br>Bottom Line: Zurich Sucks instead you want to spend money. PASS<br>

Just a day trip to see this old city. Lots of brightly painted buildings with ornate oriel windows. Most of the windows were carved with scenes or fancy designs, sometimes painted, sometimes both. Lots of fountains and statues. Found a chocolate shop and pigged out.

Back at the station I killed the waiting time in the waiting room (crazy idea, I know!), where I collected a few pamphlets detailing tourist attractions accessible on the S-bahn and also maps and timetables, partly making up for poor signage. Back at the HB I made a detour to the ticket office to see what printed timetable fare was on offer so I could plan my travels the following day after Steve's departure. The best thing that I found was a station timetable for Zürich ...

... For that reason, $40 didn't seem like such a high price anymore. After visiting the Internet cafe, I changed into a fresh T-shirt and a set of boxers. Felt great. And as planned, I went to sample some cologne at the duty free shop. I also went to the bathroom and wash my feet. The person who would be sitting next to me on the plane would be grateful :). Next was finding breakfast. It was pretty expensive to buy food in the airport. So I bought a Nestea, a small bag of ...

... of the EU so they dont use the euro....so we had to go to the atm first and get out some Swiss Francs....Also the people here speak German so we will have to get accustomed to that. Right now we are pretty clueless on out german phrases so I need to get studying that! hahaha. Tomorrow we will go sightseeing and exploring around Zurich...mostly we just want to enjoy the scenery and get a feel for the city so it should be a pretty relaxing day!!! Write more soon!!
