Pre-thanksgiving

We had a nice, quiet, chilled out day. So relaxed, in fact, that I completely forgot that we had any plans, but finally realised we were going to Scott's parents (pre-Thanksgiving) when he had his coat and shoes on and I was still in my PJ’s.

Had my first taste of pumpkin pie and spent the evening chatting about all the Thanksgiving food preparations and what to expect tomorrow.

Hanging around by the water

Waffles for breakfast again! Today we went for a walk up to a really pretty waterfall and had lunch by the lake in Ithaca, sandwiches with ham, cheese, pickles, salami and mustard (which I made btw). Then a little drive up to Scott's parents place with a detour around his home town, was cool to see the farm where he grew up.

Met Scott’s family and had fish and chips for dinner, just like home! Quiet evening in front of Fox News and making plans for the next week.

Starting it off

You know I love blogs. So, what better way to keep us all in touch and see the terrific things happening to the Vogel family? Post your events, travels and pictures to this blog for us all to see! Post often. Mom needs to know where you are, if you are all OK, and I want all the info over coffee each morning! I love you all!

I thought it was skinny-ateles

... homes, especially on the lake, are immense, and gorgeous. We ate at a seafood place on the water in downtown, and the food, unfortunately was ordinary.

I did write my blog tonight, but the Internet connection at the hotel was not working, and there was nobody there to fix it. We went 10 miles in either direction looking for a hot spot, but on Sunday night we got nowhere.

All-in-all, it was a better day than you would have expected in the rain

Day 7 quick update! - 39.8 Miles

... is essentially over so we had to decline. They also let us use the bathroom in the morning.....what a treat!

Quote of the day: As we were going up and down some terribly steep hills Carmen said, "Alexis needs to go to a different school!"

ROCHESTER HERE WE COME!!!

Within minutes of leaving the Hillpots, the girls were chased by a very aggressive, black dog (Juan Valdez again?). Anyway, they were quite scared and Emily ...

Home!!! (The adventure of mastering routine)

... All the stirring up inside me has to go somewhere. I just bought a colouring in book fromt he dollar store (I love that place) and 64 crayola crayons from walmart (only 2.80, so cheap!). So atleast that is a quick fix. But, I am going to have to find someone with a birthday so that I can make a cake and I can' wait to get into designing some peices for my portfolio. I will take any outlet I can get my hands on. I thank God so much for giving me a gift like this. I realise that I ...

Almost home!

We arrived at M&T's cottage on Seneca Lake Friday evening after a nice dinner with my Dad and Lorraine. Evidently we followed the rain all the way from Cleveland because we had very little rain on our drive and the visitors from the East had rain ...

the Empire State strikes back

A great day we started with a tour of the greatest bicycle museum I have ever seen. Carl the owner of the collection gave us a tour and most of the bikes were American made except for some very rare ones that he had imported. He had quite the collection of "ordinaries" or high wheelers. It was evident that many of conveniences that we ...

A unique stay that will last a lifetime

... that they were working there in return for housing, and that we should go inside to get situated with "Sage". We were warmly greeted at the door by Grandma Pat, the eldest of this "Family". She took us upstairs and showed us our room. It was a quaint little country style room with posters of Fairies, shelves of crystal, and a bear foot tub. When we were all situated we returned outside to explore a little bit more. We took a stroll ...

There comes a time in every man's life when...

... begin a different kind of education. For the past couple of months I've had the same conversation 100 times with many (mostly well-meaning) people. Me: I'm thinking about going overseas to teach English. Random person: Why would you do that? Me: I think it will be interesting and fun. Random person: But don't you need special qualifications for that? Me: Sure. I'm a native English speaker with a college degree and I'll be taking a 4-week course to ...
