      Vroeg opgestaan en eerst naar het Zion national park gereden. Al een erg mooie weg er naar toe dus dat beloofde wel wat. In het park moesten we verder met een shuttlebus, halverwege uitgestapt om een wandeling van ongeveer 3,5 mijl te maken naar een kleine waterval en een paar poeltjes. Leuke wandeling met heuveltjes en trappen, wel lekker …

      Shopping with the girls . Denise showed Nicole and I her shop. It's perfect, a great space. We head to the foothills and do a little thrift store shopping, then back to Visalia for more shopping . A little dinner , and a movie. An incredible day. Watched Some like it ...

      Then just as suddenly the mountains stopped and it became extensive flat farmlands. For the following 2 hours we passed almond groves; vineyards; corn crops; mandarins and dairies with huge numbers of black & white cows, many more than we would have on a farm and presumably grain fed as there was no grass. The car was very smooth and comfortable. hard to accept that the outside temp was 40C (103F) as the display showed.
      We arrived at Visalia ...

      ... he beat me to the finish line. After that we had tea - chicken with rice and beans. As soon as tea was over I helped Mateo build his lego lighthouse with his mum - are mission is to finish it by the end of the week. During this time the dad headed down to the grocery store and once back they showed me around the local area.

      ... National Park. Since there are no roads over that mountain, we had to head south, through Bakersfield, and then up to Visalia. It was basically a travel day. We had Indian food at a nearby place, which was good. No plans to go out for any fireworks so hopefully there won't be any nearby to entice the kids. ...
