Hertha-Firnberg-Strasse 5 Vienna, Vienna, Austria, 1100, 43-1-60530
In July 1993 I came to Vienna for the first time. It was a trip by bus from Piestany - tt was my first visit to Vienna and a memorable experience. The visit was not very long (just one day) but still Vienna was one of the first western cities I have ever seen and it left an impression on me. We visited Prater (the famous old entertainment park) where I first encountered what a rollercoaster it (I know it sounds quite silly nowadays, but believe me in early 90's in Eastern Europe there were no...

... had a waitress and two witnesses to her poor pronunciation. :)
It was good value though, for 10euro we both had oodles of food. Additional kilos here we come!
As we were leaving, Dani got out the language guide book to try and say thank you and goodbye in a more articulate way to our couple friends. The lady says to Dani, as we were leaving "aufweidersein", saving Dani the trouble, (I knew that's what it was, I've seen the 'Sound of Music', but wanted something ...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria dan-and-deeMay 1st is a national holiday - Labour Day - for most European countries. Austria is no different which meant all the shops were shut, bad news for me as I walked down Mariahilferstrasse window shopping during my last hours in Vienna. It's very hot today, more so than yesterday, but still as windy. After checking out and popping my luggage in storage for the day, I took the U-Bahn to Schonbrunn, an eighteenth century ...
Vienna, Austria emmab... Centimetre, were everything is big - 3 to 5 litre beers, 2 meter sausages and food in wheelbarrows. I think it was more about the quantity than the quality, but as a group it was great fun. We spent 4 days in Vienna and thoroughly enjoyed it. On route to Munich we stopped at Salzburg (where Sound of Music was made) and again we were very disappointed not to have planned to stay a night or two in this incredibly beautiful little town. It seems as though the hills are really alive!
Vienna, Vienna, Austria vine_hooligansI eat a quick breakfast by ordering room service food. I then catch an early bus back to Berlin and it takes longer to come back to Berlin than it takes to get to Vienna so I get back to my hotel late. I eat dinner at a local diner and call it a day. I go back to my hotel and watch tv as I wrap my souvenirs from museum in Vienna and put them into my luggage.
Vienna, Austria maksumic... and took something away from the experience not being able to sit comfortably and see the whole stage but it did not effect the audio aspect of the opera and we all absolutely loved it. However we only got to stay for the acts 1, 2 and 3 as we could not stay for act 4 at the risk of missing our over night train to Krakow, Poland which was leaving at 10.30 pm. We left the opera early and caught a taxi back to the hostel to pick up our bags ...
Vienna, Austria callow1234... peopleseeing, on the way back I took small residential alleys. Day after day, city after city, I like more and more to spend time just observing people on their lives, how do they look?, how do they behave?, which mood are they in?, are they friendly, are they rude?, what kind of clothes do they wear?, etc. Back to the hostel I met Justin and Kelley, an American couple from Springfield, MO, and spent a few hours chatting with them. Great guys! Day 28 Finally my cold ...
Vienna, Austria gbasilio... 7th Annual Vienna Rainbow Parade. With over 100,000 people along the parade route and people wearing all sorts of crazy outfits, it made touring the city a bit interesting. While along the parade route we saw Fredrich Schmidt Platz, which is a nice looking building. I'm not sure what it is for, but it looked neat. We then continued on to Votiv kirche or church. Even though it was under construction, it was still a ...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria karli... us to the city. Perfectly content to just walk to the college, we were pleasantly surprised when Don Hardy, who lives just down the street from us, and his host mom passed us in their car and offered to give us a lift. Not only was it a relief from the cold and rain, but we probably would have been late had we not gotten a ride. We entered the doors at Salzburg College greeted by Mutlu and her husband and walked up several flights of stairs to the library where ...
Salzburg, Austria morningglory... I left towards the end. The only thing I found interesting was the amount of hard work they had put into the whole thing. Months of practice, every move, every gesture was meticulously choreographed. How can so many people know every move for 94 minutes? The patterns of movement around the stage was far from simple or repetitive. But for what end? Back to camp and a wrong turn took me into the bus bridge over the ...
