The Blue Ridge Parkway runs through the Appalachians in Virginia, and what a beautiful drive! All the rain here creates a very green, lush landscape filled with yellow, white, purple and pink wildflowers and soft pink mountain laurel blooms as well as bright pink rhododendrons. North of the Parkway lies Shenandoah National Park with more of the same peaceful feel. In Fall, this area ...
Trail Days did weird things to the distribution of hikers on the trail. People scurried to the nearest town to grab rides to Damascus; some did big miles to get to the next town in time, while others, like me and the people I was hiking with, hit a town and stopped so we wouldn't be too far past it. So we licked our italian ices down to the last drippy, stainy red drops, and headed to the Campus Emporium in the town of Blacksburg. Charming small town feel on the edge of campus. Well we hadn't finished ...
