The visitor center in Canton will tell you that General Sherman stayed in a house here during the Civil War and that is why he spared the Court House.
There really isn't much to do in Canton, but I would come back just to go on the Nissan Plant tour. Tomorrow it is on to Memphis and our visit with Elvis!!
We left New Orleans for Jackson, Mississippi, as we (Louisa) was inspired by the famous Johny Cash Song..... Jackson!
Jackson was en route to our next big destination, Clarksdale, however over the last couple of years in Carnarvon we (in particular Louisa) had grown to like a bit of country music and Jackson was one of her Carnarvon songs and so it was a must see on the trip.
