... market close to the train station. The market was quite nice with a lot of goods I couldn't find in parts of Tianjin, however the prices were high and none of the 'western' things were really Western at all. Regardless I bought some gifts and some leather mittens. Afterward we had jiaozi at a nearby chain restaurant, and a little skiff with the waitress when she brought and charged us for a dish we didn't order.

After, we took a ...
Tanggu, Tianjin, China baphometdemonA couple of months have past since our last little adventure and the throes of a day to day job have enthralled me for the moments. I do feel, however, the often little tug to wander streets I haven't walked and to places I have not yet gazed. And so, for this weekend, the two of us decided to go to the close coastal city of Tanggu to see there what it had to offer. Of ...
Tianjin, Tianjin, China baphometdemon... the info that put 'em up high for what I sought. Little nervous, no idea what I'm really looking for and I can read half a dozen words of Mandarin. But I am the miraculous(ly idiotic?) traveler I am, trust the luck, hit the road. Number one GM recommended bus is a double decker, never tried it, ok! Kinda short for my six foot frame but I suss the efficiency. Most of us stoop, many more of us fit. Take the top level, see what ...
Tianjin, Tianjin, China beastly... location, them with 'meter is broken, 25rmb?'. Of course, it only costs 10rmb to get back to her apartment from the bus station, but why should they assume we know that. Very annoying of course, we ended up taking one of the nu-rickshaws, with the motorcycle front.

That night we spent in the town center, searching for sushi - which we eventually found and was both delicious and too ...
Tianjin, Tianjin, China baphometdemonOctober 1 I had the day off for the Celebration of Chinese National Day. It was the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Peoples Republic of China. I used this time to explore more of Tianjin. I did a lot of walking and sweating but it was worth it. Enjoy the Photos.

Blake
Tianjin, Tianjin, China baphometdemon... these 2 guys came to our table and spun the noodles in the air to stretch the dough and then they put them in your pot. It was pretty cool. The pics from dinner only include about half the group cause some ditched out because of the rain and they had to ride their bicycles home.

And yes we had a private room at no extra cost for dinner.

Blake
Tianjin, Tianjin, China blakemasonI went to dinner at a pretty nice seafood restaurant. I picked the food from aquariums on the main floor of the place and they cook it and bring it to your table which is upstairs. I went with a JV (joint venture) Team member and the Mexican team.

We had Chicken, Pork, Green beans, 2 kinds of shrimp, fish, and a crab. It only came to about 10 US dollars per person.

Enjoy thee Pics,
Blake
Tianjin, Tianjin, China blakemason... I was getting more upset. In the park there was a mountain that you climb up, with a pagoda on top, and then when you reach the bottom, there was a nice pond. Then you could go up one more smaller mountain or leave the park area. There were lots of tourists there too, everyone had a camera and they were taking pictures and videos of us all day. It was really pretty, and took you out of the city life.

Dagang, Tianjin, China ruthbarz... where there was a drum tower (good views from top) and the Guangdong Guild Hall, which was an old style Chinese opera house. We then wondered over to a Chinese style mosque before catching the metro to the Wudadao district (the old British concession) which housed several old British style buildings. Well thats all for Tianjin, we set of for Qingdao on the Yellow Sea coast tomorrow morning so hope everyone is well and see you all in a few days. Mark and Peter
